The 1969 Mustang, M-code, 290hp (at 4800rpm), 351ci, 4 barrel, V8 engine.
The door data tag on this car reads 63C for the Mach 1 fastback body style, W Meadowlark Yellow exterior paint, 5 blacked out hood, 3AA black Mach 1 seats (2nd A for high back seats?), 02G assembled on the 2nd of July, 71 ordered in the Los Angeles area, 9 3.25:1 rear axle ratio, and 5 4 speed wide ratio manual transmission.
Here is a rare one! It's a 1969 Mustang 4.1 Liter Special Edition fastback. It's owned by Don Shelton from Indianapolis, Indiana. Don's Dad bought this car new at Roberts Ford in Danville, Indiana back in 1969. The car has not been restored and looks the same as it did back in 1969. The 4.1 Liter Special was local to the Indianapolis area. The limited edition came in three different colors (special order exterior green WT7034, yellow or orange) with white and gold pinstripes. They also had the L-code 4.1 liter (250ci) 6-cylinder engine and automatic transmission. Don confirms that his 4.1 Liter Special has the 6-cylinder engine, white and gold pin stripes, special order (blank paint code) green paint, automatic transmission, #0572 Indianapolis ordering district as well as other unique options - white racing mirrors, non-functional hood scoop, and side scoops. Don says that this car never had the 4.1 Litre Special checkered flag fender badges rumored to be on them - but he did say that his Dad bought it right off the Delivery Truck. Maybe the dealer didn't have time to prep it and install the emblems. Don had read an article on another original owner of a 1.4 Liter Special who says that his had a red emblem that said "4.1" then a black bar below it that said "Litre Special".

This is a very straight car for being original.
Here is that L-code 4.1L (250ci) 6-cylinder engine that is the heart of the 1.4 Liter Special.
Special Order Yellow 1969 Mustang Mach 1 fastback with a 360hp (at 5400rpm), 428 cubic inch, 4 barrel, Super Cobra Jet, V8 engine. This restored car is one of the 10 special paint cars ordered by Russ Davis Ford, Covina California for a special promotion. We are hunting through the newspapers of the time to determine what the promotion was. It could have been a 1969 carry-over of the "Rainbow of Colors" West Coast Promotion, or a "Gas Ronda" special promotion. The Rainbow of Colors promotion offered new Mustang owners one of up to 13 special "Rainbow of Colors." This car has been repainted Ford Special Paint WT6135, which a a little more orange than what we believe is the original Yellow in this group of 13 colors. But WT6135 is a period Ford special order paint! This combined with some newspaper articles of the time says that funny car racer Gas Ronda was heavily sponsored by Russ Davis in 1969 and Gas Ronda drove a modified bright "orangey reddish" Mustang Mach 1. It is possible that the 10 special colored 1969 Mach 1 Mustangs ordered by Russ Davis was for a Race Car or Gas Ronda promotion. In this case a brighter yellow car may have been necessary, making the current color possibly very close to the original. What did the other 9 Mach 1 Mustangs ordered by Russ Davis look like? well here is one.

Special Order Yellow 1969 Mustang Mach 1 fastback from either the 1968-69, "Rainbow of Colors" west coast Ford promotion or a Russ Davis - Gas Ronda racing promotion. This car has custom factor paint, blacked out hood, hood pins, hood scoop, air dam, Magnum 500 wheels, and a mach 1 stripe.

This is a Beatnik Blue 1969 Special Order Mach 1 Mustang fastback. This special model was purchased new in Torrence, California, possibly an extension of the 1968 Rainbow of Colors promotion.. This Mach 1 has a 351ci V8 engine, 4-speed Top Loader with Hurst shifter, 10 spline clutch kit, stainless steel racing flywheel, 9-inch rearend, dual exhaust, front disc brakes, and Deluxe interior. This Mach 1 has a DSO of 72-5016. The paint code is a 5 - which is really a blank followed by a 5. The 5 is for the factory blacked out hood.

Not only the hood is black. So are the side stripes, stripe across the rear, the decklid spoiler, chin spoiler, and the interior.
