This is the factory assembly sheet for this car. It shows all the options, interior selections, and exterior color.
Invoice showing the standard Mach 1 options of the spoiler, air dam, color-keyed racing mirrors, NASA type hood scoops (originally called NACA type), competition suspension, rim rings and hub caps, high back bucket seats, sport tires, and steel guard rails. Additional options include the 351ci V8 upgrade, body side tape stripes, emission controls, automatic transmission, tire upgrade, power steering, interior backseat sport deck (fold down rear seat), power front disc brakes, air conditioning, AM radio, and tinted glass. Ford changed the name of the hood ducts to NASA because of the buzz around the moon landings and because NASA did use the NACA type ducts in their aircraft designs.
This is a 1971 advertisement for a Special Spring Value edition Mustang hardtop. The Special Spring Value edition has the color-matched front bumper from the 1971 Mach 1, side stripes of the 1971 Boss, and grille mounted fog lamps and color-keyed side mirrors of both. The ad says,
For Spring Only. A Mustang of a New Stripe. You take a classic Mustang Hardtop. right? (That practical, comfortable, stylish variety.) And a sports-car hood - NASA-type scoops and all. Add dual racing mirrors. Color-keyed Spoiler bumper. A unique grille with sport lamps. Brighten the sides with Boss tape stripes. Oh yes, and wide tires with special trim rings. Then take a look a the special prices of the extras. You're home. Note: NASA-type scoops was Ford's renaming of the originally named NACA-type ducts used by the aerospace industry.
This is a newspaper advertisement for the 1971 Spring Special hardtop from the June 11th, 1971 edition of the Ottawa Herald of Ottawa, Kansas. See the next scans in this sequence for the entire version of this ad placed by Ray Brown Ford. This special spring package includes grille/sports lamps, color keyed front bumper (similar to the 1971 Mach 1), color keyed hood and fender moldings, NASA hood, black lower bodyside paint, dual color-keyed racing mirrors, trim rings, E70 WSW wide tires, and 1971 Boss bodyside tape stripe. And of course, all for the special price of $97 extra. This ad shows the renaming of the NACA-type hood ducts as a NASA-type hood, since this vent design was used in the aerospace industry.

Bright Lime 1971 Mustang convertible with a modified 351 Cleveland V8. This was a basic 1971 Mustang convertible with many sport features added. Most 1971 sport packages came with color-keyed sport mirrors, the mirrors here are of the most basic type.

This custom interior includes Corbeau seats with 3 point D.O.T. approved racing harnesses, re-upholstered leather rear seats with new seat belts, new carpet kit, Alpine DVD-CD-MP3 player with separate dvd screen, gauge cluster is indiglo for night viewing, and so dual Auto Meter Lunar gauges.
The 1968 Mustang, H-code 351 Cleveland has been modified with a Paxton Novi supercharger, polished aluminum performance intake manifold, MSD ll Coil Blaster and Pro Billet Distributor, MSD 8.5mm Pro ignition wire set, Ford Racing polished aluminum valve covers, chrome alternator and polished aluminum water pump, high lift cam, polished valves, Hooker headers, battery hidden in trunk behind panel, and 9 inch rear with 3:55 gears.
Wimbledon White 1971 Mustang Grande hardtop with a 210hp (4600rpm), 302ci, 2 barrel, V8 engine. The Grande luxury package came with bumper guards, a vinyl top, and a deluxe interior. This car has been repainted and a new vinyl roof installed. The Grande option usually came with body side moldings or a side pin stripe, neither of which are on this car.
