Data plate mounted to the driver's door shows the VIN number (6=1966, F=Manufactured in Dearborn MI, 09=fastback body, K=289ci high-performance V8 engine, then a sequential unit number starting with 100001 making this the 41847th 1966 fastback made in Dearborn). The VCT sequence below shows a 63B=fastback luxury body, V=emberglo paint, 64=emberglo/parchment interior trim, 18K=manufactured on the 18th day of October, 55=built for special order for delivery in St. Louis, 5=3.50:1 rear axle ratio, and 5=4-speed manual transmission.

This Black 1966 Sprint 200 hardtop is owned by Aldo Rivas of Clovis, New Mexico and is our Attitude Of The Week for September 6th, 2009. Aldo writes, I own an all original 1966 Mustang Sprint 200 which I located on Craigslist in September 2006. The Mustang was originally purchased from Muriel Carlson of Seattle WA on March 3, 1966 from Westside Ford, Inc. Seattle WA. The Mustang was posted as a 1966 Mustang Coupe, I started to get more interested when I found out it had 87,000 documented miles, and being an all original Sprint 200. After talking with the owner I found out the Mustang was his fathers who he purchased from the original owner in 1972. I drove to Lake Stevens to have a look at the Mustang and was surprised to see it in such good condition for being original. Today I have 92,000 miles on it, I only take it out on nice days. Some cool things are I have the original owners manual, all receipts from 1972 to present and top ot off the radio works. The only work I have done is a major brake job and minor carburetor rebuild. The Mustang still has the original spare tire that I took to Les Schwab to get inspected and re-inflated. The tires and wheels were purchased from Les Schwab in 1993 when the Mustang had 80,695 miles, so that calculates to the car being driven about 706 miles a year since 1993. I plan on keeping the Mustang original, sure she has some bumps and scratches but that adds to its character. Now if I only bought the 1967 Shelby GT-350 I test drove in El Paso TX in 1986 for the asking price of $7000 OBO, my life would be complete.

The Sprint 200 was a sport package specifically designed for the base 200ci 6 cylinder engine which were plentiful. Other Sprint options included center floor console; painted side accent stripes (color matched with the car's interior); deletion of the chrome rear quarter ornaments; a set of deluxe 48 spoke, blue center wire-style wheel covers; and a "Sprint 200" decal on the engine's chrome air cleaner cover.

Ivy Green 1966 Mustang convertible with a 200hp (at 4400rpm), 289 cubic inch, 2 barrel, V8 engine. The door tag reads 76A R 26 20M 23 6 6, where 76A is the convertible standard body, R is the Ivy Green metallic paint, 26 is the black interior trim, 20M denotes a 20th of December assembly date, 23 special ordered in Philadelphia, 6 2.80:1 rear axle ratio, and 6 dual range automatic C4 transmission.

Garnet Red 1966 Mustang hardtop owned by Justin Lebano in Boynton Beach, Florida. Jason tells us, "I took my other '66 in both repair and saw this one. A trade and some cash helped me upgrade to this one. I am not looking to sell but if someone really was interested I would. It's a very reliable car could be used for daily driver. Factory A/C, New P/S system, 289ci V4 engine, and much much more done."
