(1 photo of a 1967 Aspen Red Mustang Sky Country Special Hardtop) Richard sends us this set of photos of his 1967 Ski Country Special Mustang hardtop in special order Aspen Red. Richard is the third owner and thinks the car was special ordered by Jess Hunter Ford of Pueblo Colorado for his wife. This car is missing its trunk top luggage rack (supposed ski rack) but it does have a rear mounted Ski Country Special badge. This amazing car is our Attitude Of The Week starting November 6, 2022. This Aspen Red special order paint was only a production paint as Ember Red on the 1958 Ford Edsel, but is most famous for its use on the 1963 Gibson Firebird electric guitar. This car also does not have owner added hood stripes which our other example has (sorry Greenlight diecast model car company who mistakenly put stripes on there examples of the 1967 Sky Country Special).

(1 photo of a 1967 Candy Apple Red Mustang Shelby GT-500 Convertible) Here is a super rare Mustang. Only one built! It's a Candyapple Red 1967 Shelby GT-500 convertible. It's owned by Samantha and Brian Styles from Delray Beach, Florida. This is our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting February 1, 2015. It has a 428ci V8 "Interceptor" engine and an automatic transmission. Shelby had intended to offer the GT350 and GT500 in all three body styles - six in all. Brian adds, "We just gained access to the Ford Special Orders (DSOs) and they confirm that Shelby American even went so far as to create "package" codes for each type of car. The convertible was package code "413C", meaning a GT500, Auto, AC, Smog, Convertible Body. Carroll claimed the convertible as his own personal car. About 4 months later, the car was needed for a new task. It was used to bolt on the A.O. Smith built '68 styled fiberglass designed by Ford. It was essentially disguised as a '68 for the purpose of taking photos -- a lot of photos. A couple Shelby employees referred to the car in the stage as a "68 styling proto," though there was actually nothing prototype about it. Nothing more than a model putting on a new dress for her walk down the runway." Check out the www.1967shelbyconvertible.com website for more information.

(1 photo of a 1968 Royal Maroon Mustang GT California Special Hardtop) Royal Maroon 1968 Mustang GT California Special hardtop owned by Don Potter from Ohio. This was our featured Attitude Of The Week for March 2nd, 2008. Don has this extra information to share, "The car was found on the internet and purchased February 2004 from an exotic car dealer in the Seattle, Washington area. The photos I received with car indicated that the body work and paint were done in September 1997 and is still in very good shape. The engine bay and engine along with interior and floor pans were in pretty sad shape. The mileage at time of purchase was 54,243. Once the engine and tranny was pulled, the undercarriage was inspected completely. We found several modifications that led me to believe car had been extensively drag raced at one time. The right rear shock housing was pushed up and split in three areas. The trans linkage, clutch bracket and shifter had been modified. Since my purchase, the following work has been completed: interior gutted and replaced, dash repainted correct color and all dash pieces replaced, factory console replaced with a humphugger console, factory shifter replaced with a Hurst shifter, electrical gauges replaced with mechanical gauges, 390 engine replaced with a 428 Cobra Jet engine, grille replaced with correct GT/CS grille and Marchal fog lights, front and rear bumpers replaced, engine bay detailed, rearend rebuilt with new axles and 325:1 Posi w/traction bars, GT pop-open gas cap added, standard LED sequential tail lights from Mustang Project, and the driver's side floor pan and passenger side floor pans replaced along with left front torque box."

(1 photo of a 1968 Eastertime Coral (Caribbean Coral) Mustang Color Of The Month Hardtop) Here is a car you will not see often. Its an Eastertime Coral 1968 April Color of the Month promotional Sprint Mustang hardtop owned by John of Michigan and was our featured Attitude Of The Week for July 13th, 2008. The Color of the Month was a promotion for the first four months of 1968 where special colors were connected to main holidays for special sales: Black Hills Gold paint for the New Year celebration in January, Passionate Pink for Valentine's day in February, Emerald Green for St. Patrick's day in March, and in this case Eastertime Coral for Easter in April. Imagine an Easter Collection of Colors sale showing Eastertime Coral Mustang next to a Seafoam Green, Meadowlark Yellow, and Diamond Blue 1968 standard factory color Mustangs; and a Passionate Pink Mustang left over from the Valentine's day, February color of the month. The Ford color number for Eastertime Coral was WT9012 (6779DH Dupont, 71617 Ditzler) and was also used for the Rainbow of Colors 1968-69 West coast promotion but called Caribbean Coral. See our 1968 data explorer and the 1968 Special Models page for more information on both of these promotions. We also have a larger 1024x768 pixel wallpaper of this car.

(1 photo of a 1968 Sierra Blue Mustang GT Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) This probably a one of a kind Sierra Blue 1968 Rainbow of Colors promotional GT Mustang hardtop. It has a black vinyl roof, aftermarket wheels, black side C stripe, vented hood, fog lamps, metal rocker panel trim, and a 390ci V8 engine. Scott Johnson's family bought this car in the mid 1970's from a local dealer, probably only one other owner. During the 70s the car was repainted to a match of its original factory color. Scott says that everyone thought that this could not have been a factory color since nothing like it is on the 1968 Mustang color charts until he recently ordered a Marti Report which showed the car as one of the Rainbow of Color promotional GT hardtops and it was painted Sierra Blue. The 1968-69 Rainbow of Colors promotion offered 13 special colors, one of them was Sierra Blue. This amazing car was our Attitude Of The Week for November 23, 2008. See our Rainbow of Colors special information page for more information on the information we have been able to put together on all 13 colors.

Mario tells us that his T-5 has been restored, has all its matching factory numbers, and according to the Marti report this is a one of a kind. When these cars were exported to Germany, Ford could not register the "Mustang" name for sale. Ford replaced the "Mustang" emblems with "T-5" emblems. T-5 Mustangs exist from 1964 through 1979.

(1 photo of a 1968 Madagascar Orange Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) This rare 1968 Madagascar Orange Mustang hardtop from the west coast Rainbow of Colors promotion is owned by Dale Olson of Rohnert Park, California. It was our Attitude Of The Week for December 28th, 2008. Dale writes, I got this car in 1990 and finished restoring it in 1996. It was not show room quality, but it was a very nice car. For the entire time I've had it, I was misreading the data plate and didn't know exactly what the car was. Even few years ago I did search on internet of Orange 68 Mustang, and got nothing. Just within the past few weeks I finally found out the car was a part of the Rainbow Mustang promotion of 68 and 69. I don't have the original engine in it because when I got the car someone had put a straight six in it. I also had a 67 mustang with a 289 4v that was usable so I rebuilt it. Also no longer have the C4 automatic for it. I put in the Ford design 4 speed (RUG-E2), but no modifications other than bolt-ons. The car only has 23,000 miles on it since restoring it, but due to it sitting outside in the weather, it needs to be completely restored again (except the engine, transmission, and rear end). We've included some scanned in photos after its first restoration in 1996, hopefully Dale can get us more in the future. Also take a look at our Rainbow of Colors special information page to see what we believe all 13 colors from the Rainbow of Colors promotion looked like along with photos of other Rainbow of Colors cars.

(1 photo of a 1968 Wimbledon White Mustang Shelby GT-350 Fastback) The Wimbledon White with blue Lemans stripes 1968 Mustang Shelby GT-350. This Shelby has a 250 hp, 302 cubic inch, V8 engine; and was the Attitude Of The Week for 9-30-2007. In preparation for 1968 production, Shelby moved its manufacturing site from Southern California to Michigan due to the need of high quality fiberglass which was being used for more of the Shelby components. This car has the 15 x 7 inch 10-spoke aluminum wheels option.

(1 photo of a 1968 Flower Power Red Orange Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) Mike Abajian Jr of Texas owns this beautiful 1968 Rainbow of Colors promotional red orange Mustang hardtop. Mike writes: I bought this original 'Rainbow of Colors' car on-line about two years ago. The gentleman who restored this car initially intended to part it out. He opted to restore its original Calypso Coral special order paint (known as Flower Power Orange in '68). Mike's 1968 Mustang was our Attitude Of The Week for February 1st, 2009.

(1 photo of a 1968 Presidential Blue Mustang GT California Special Hardtop) This beautiful Presidential Blue 1968 Mustang GT/CS with a 289ci V8 was our Attitude Of The Week for April 5th, 2009. (1 photo of a 1968 Spanish Gold (Black Hills Gold) Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) This amazing 1968 white vinyl top Mustang owned by Mal Hillier of Melbourne, Australia, has all the codes and special order color to be a Spanish Gold 1968 Rainbow of Colors West Coast promotional Mustang and was our Attitude of the Week for April 26th, 2009. It was built in San Jose, ordered in Los Angeles, under a special order with special paint WT3822. Mal writes: My Mustang was imported in to Australia from Los Angeles as a running car and I purchased it from an importer. I knew little about Mustangs and the hobby grew from there. The body and Paint have been refurbished and the color has been professionally matched to the original color in the trunk. Body was rust free fortunately. The Mustang was in very good original condition when purchased and I drove it home, I have done most of the mechanicals and put it all together my self, I also have the original owners manual and is a matching numbers car. But most of all, I love driving it. Spanish Gold shares the same paint code as Black Hills Gold used in January 1968 for the Color of the Month Mustang promotion. The Color of the Month promotion offered a special ordered color and sport options for each of the first 4 months of 1968. Black Hills Gold was offered in January for the New Years; Passionate Pink in February for Valentines day; Emerald Green in March for Saint Patrick's Day, and Eastertime Coral for April.
