(from page 8 of the 1966 Collection) Dash close-up, interior view of the 1966 Mustang. The optional delux steering wheel came with simulated wood grain, I certainly like the standard one better.

(from page 8 of the 1966 Collection) Door plate of the 1966 Mustang Sprint 200. 65A is the standard hardtop coupe body, M is the Wimbledon White paint, 22 is blue trim, 16A assembled the 16th of January for 71 Los Angeles. Wish we could read the Transmission code to see if this is an automatic to verify that Sprint "A" meant automatic transmission.

(from page 8 of the 1966 Collection) Invoice for the Wimbledon White 1966 Mustang. The Sprint 200 Package A is clearly listed (200 cubic inch engine with possibly original automatic transmission). Along with the free options. This car has been repainted since it lost its side accent stripe. The standard base hardtop 1966 price was $2416, so you can see the Sprint Package in this case was only $79.16 more. You got a less powerful engine (the standard engine was a 200hp, 289ci, V8 (compared to the Sprint 200ci, 120hp, in-line 6) but you got other options $50.41 full-length center console, $13.90 accent stripe, $58.24 wire wheel covers, $33.31 white wall tires, and etc.

(from page 9 of the 1966 Collection) White 1966 Mustang hardtop owned by Jamie Wilske from Urbana, Illinois. Under the hood is a 302ci 2v V8 engine. Jamie shares, "I bought this car from a collector in September 2009. Overall already in great shape! I have been modifying the engine - replaced valve covers and air cleaner to chrome, replaced distributor cap to a clear blue cap, replaced spark plug wires to a hi performance blue, replaced the spark plugs at the same time, placed some stickers in engine and trunk to original, replaced radiator cap with a blue cap, placed a blue cap over vacuum line off distributor, replaced solenoid and battery. Future replacements: radiator, alternator, water pump, balancer, change intake manifold to headers, starter, carburetor, rims and tires from 14 to 15-inch, radio and antenna, carpet, seats, and oil pan. Just to name a few."

(from page 9 of the 1966 Collection) The interior is black. It has the full length center console.

(from page 18 of the 1966 Collection) Wimbledon White 1966 Mustang hardtop owned by Dani Joyce from Australia. This is an awesome shot! It was our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting August 28, 2011. Dani tells us, "This a very original unrestored 66 coupe. It was built in San Jose, California on 7 Feb 1966. It was imported to Australia in 2010 and I bought it a week after it arrived in the country. The car even arrived with the original pink slip and several US Nationals Parks passes. The car was purchased in the US from the same family who bought the car originally. It is an excellent example of the classic icon."

(from page 20 of the 1966 Collection) Wimbledon White 1966 T-5 GT convertible owned by Chris Wold from Edgerton, Wisconsin. This is an original color convertible with the 289ci K-code Hi-Po engine with a manual transmission. Chris adds, "This car was handed to me by a previous owner who didn't have time for it. I have been showing this car at shows because of its rarity. It's was sold thru through the military PX system, shipped from the US to Europe, and sent back when a soldier was done with there tour of duty. It's been with me for a year and a half and has won best of show, best of class, and also a Facebook page. "

(from page 20 of the 1966 Collection) Here is a close-up of both the GT and T-5 emblems on this Mustang. The T-5 emblem replaces the Mustang emblem for these cars exported to Germany.

(from page 20 of the 1966 Collection) This is the original 289ci V8 HiPo engine. No power steering. No power brakes. It's built to go.

(from page 21 of the 1966 Collection) Wimbledon White 1966 Mustang hardtop owned by Herve Winckel from France. Herve tells us, "This Mustang was born in California where she stood for nearly 40 years. Then it was imported to Europe by Holland, and was bought by a French man in the north of France. He conserved her for two years, sold her to my neighbor in Chalon-sur-Sane and I bought her in the summer of 2011." It still has it's original 289ci V8 and an automatic transmission. The data plate is "65 A M 22 06G 72 6 6". 65 is for the hardtop coupe body style. B is for the standard body trim. M is for Wimbledon White. 22 is for the blue with blue trim interior. 06G is for the assembly date of July 6th. 72 is for the San Jose ordering district. The first 6 is for 2.8 rear end gear. The second 6 is for the C4 automatic transmission.
