(from page 38 of the 1965 Collection) Many of the original parts are shown here. I am sure some will be put back on the car during its restoration.

(from page 38 of the 1965 Collection) The interior is currently set-up in its 1979 condition for being raced.

(from page 38 of the 1965 Collection) Another view of the race interior which will probably also be restored to its original non-race, street version.

(from page 38 of the 1965 Collection) Wheels appropriate for a GT350R and GT350 lower stripe.

(from page 39 of the 1965 Collection) Submitted by a viewer, this ad placed in the September 5th, 1965 edition of Le Petit Journal says Player's Mustang-A-Week contest. Will you be a winner? A spirited Mustang hardtop Ford will be given in prizes every week. Read the instructions below and enter the contest as often as you like, it is very easy. Maybe you're one of the lucky winners. This ad says that 15 of the unique blue and white 1965 Mustang Player's special edition hardtops will be given away weekly between June 16th and September 22nd, 1965. Player's promotions like this occurred in many Providences in Canada between 1965 and 1968.

(from page 39 of the 1965 Collection) This ad shows the Player's Mustang-a-Week contest held in Ontario. The first of 15 blue and white 1965 Mustangs were given away between June 2nd, 1965 and September 8th, 1965. The Player's Mustang contest was held in many Canadian Providences in 1965 and 1968 according to the viewer who send us these ads after he contacted the Imperial Tobacco company. He also found ads for this promotion in 1966 and 1967.

(from page 39 of the 1965 Collection) This newspaper shows Mr. Jack Idler of Riverside Ontario being handed the keys to a blue and white 1965 Mustang Player's special edition hardtop. The viewer who sent this set of advertisements in told us that he talked with Jack Idler in early 2007 about his car that was under a tarp for the last 15 years and needed a full restoration. The current whereabouts of the car is unknown.

(from page 39 of the 1965 Collection) This magazine ad says that the sophisticated looks and luxuries of the Mustang give you a new gleam in your eyes and you can have more fun. That must be here "having fun" dress? She parked on a dirt road and is having fun? I like the first line, "Life was just one diaper after another until Sarah got her new Mustang."

(from page 40 of the 1965 Collection) These are two of the three 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350 prototypes. The front one is a street version - serial number SFM5S003. The other is one of two race prototype versions (SFM5R003 GT-350R Prototype). These started as white K-code (HiPo 271ho 289ci) 1965 Mustang fastbacks. Where is the third one? It exists and is in a private collection.

(from page 40 of the 1965 Collection) This is a rare 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350 Drag Unit fastback. It is one of four originally created by Shelby. It has a 289ci 306hp engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. Other features included Gabriel Silver Eagle rear shocks, Cure-Ride up-lock front shocks, 9x14 tires on 5x14 wheels, 5.13 rear, engine torque strap, Belanger drag headers, NHRA-approved Cobra scattershield, Hurst Competition-Plus shifter, driveshaft safety loop, and AFX rear traction bars.

(from page 40 of the 1965 Collection) This Wimbledon White 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350R fastback was built for racing. It was not a street-legal car. This car was listed on Craigslist back in 2008. The photos are from the listing. At the time, it was the most expensive car ever listed on Craigslist. The listing said, "Car #530 one of only 35 Produced (1 of 25 still remaining). These "R" code GT 350's were unique in that they represented the first time an American auto manufacturer offered a strictly-for-racing model that was SCCA B/Production compliant. This vehicle was shipped to Lima Peru on 7/29/66 and raced extensively on the South American circuit. It was the South American Champion in it's class and the Peruvian National Champion in the late 60's. Brought back to the US in 1984, I have a copy of the original Shelby American Invoice Referring to SFM 5R530 as a 1966 GT 350 Race dated June 28, 1966. PLEASE NOTE: According to the Illustrated Shelby Buyers Guide by Lamm & Nicaise 1992 page 60 - "That last batch incidentally is often referred to as the 1966 R-models; they were assembled after regular 1965 GT350 production had shut down" "They were given serial numbers , though, and titled as 1965 models." # 5R530 is one of these vehicles."

(from page 40 of the 1965 Collection) Front end view of this 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350R. These have ultra-cool fiberglass front bumpers.

(from page 40 of the 1965 Collection) This one has no rear bumper and panels riveted over the rear quarter windows.

(from page 40 of the 1965 Collection) Now that is a real race interior.

(from page 3 of the 1966 Collection) Emmanuel Theux sends us this photo of a Wimbledon White 1966 Shelby GT-350. This was taken at a car show in Paris, France. This one wears a set of 1965 Shelby wheels. Check out all the over vintage Mustangs in the background.

(from page 3 of the 1966 Collection) Manville Smith just purchased this Wimbledon White 1966 Mustang convertible (April 20th, 2009) with only 40K on the odometer. This is our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting 5-24-09. Manville tells us more, "It is very original and highly optioned. The paint is original and the body/frame is straight and rust-free. The car was originally a Ford company car ('Transportation Services' DSO) and it still has the Ford Employee parking decal on the rear window. Original items include the C-code 289 V8, C4 automatic transmission, power steering, front disc brakes (rare on a non-GT), 2-speed wipers, luggage rack, 'Visibility Group' (remote controlled door mirror, day/night mirror), power convertible top, styled steel wheels, Ivy Gold and White Pony interior (all original) with console, AM Radio (works perfectly), wheel arch moldings, and rocker panel moldings. Non-original items are the air conditioning and the dual exhaust."
