(from page 5 of the 1966 Collection) Check out this 1966 Mustang magazine ad. It features a Candy Apple Red 1966 Mustang hardtop passing a green traffic light. It starts off with, "Okay, you can stop asking, 'Why doesn't Mustang bolt Cruise-O-Matic behind the 271 solid-lifter V8?" It talks about the new option of an automatic with the High Performance 271ci V8 engine.

Twin City Pontiac in Monroe Louisiana advertised this Santa Special Mustang in the December 20, 1868 edition of The Monroe News-Star newspaper.

We found this ad for the Cardinal Special Mustang at Petersburg Motor Company in the March 22nd, 1968, edition of The Progress-Index of Petersburg, Virginia. The photo shows the rooftop Cardinal Special emblem, flip-open chromed gas cap, black interior, GT stripe, wheel lip moldings, wheel covers, 200ci inline six cylinder engine, and special paint (Candyapple Red or possibly Wimbledon White).

(from page 37 of the 1968 Collection) Introducing the Cardinal Edition '68 Mustang! This is the earliest 1968 Cardinal Edition Mustang newspaper advertisement we found. It was from Barkhouser Ford in the March 15th, 1968 edition of The Danville Register of Danville, Virginia. It lists the options as: special paint, black interior, 200cu six, black "C" stripe, bucket seats, floor-mounted stick, wheel covers, wheel lip moldings, flip-open chromed gas cap, special emblem, and other features the dealer could add.

The special promotion was limited to the Virginia, North Carolina area. We found this ad in the March 29th, 1968, edition of The Danville Register of Danville, Virginia.

The advertisement reads, Sidney spent Sundays seashelling at the seashore. Then Sidney started digging the '68 Mustang - the great original. Dug the models: hardtop, fastback and convertible. Liked the low price, too, which left Sidney lots of clams to design his own Mustang, Sidney style. Now Sidney's making waves all over. Last week he saved 3 bathing beauties. (from page 9 of the 1971 Collection) This is a 1971 advertisement for a Special Spring Value edition Mustang hardtop. The Special Spring Value edition has the color-matched front bumper from the 1971 Mach 1, side stripes of the 1971 Boss, and grille mounted fog lamps and color-keyed side mirrors of both. The ad says, For Spring Only. A Mustang of a New Stripe. You take a classic Mustang Hardtop. right? (That practical, comfortable, stylish variety.) And a sports-car hood - NASA-type scoops and all. Add dual racing mirrors. Color-keyed Spoiler bumper. A unique grille with sport lamps. Brighten the sides with Boss tape stripes. Oh yes, and wide tires with special trim rings. Then take a look a the special prices of the extras. You're home. Note: NASA-type scoops was Ford's renaming of the originally named NACA-type ducts used by the aerospace industry.


(from page 15 of the 1971 Collection) This is a 1971 Mustang magazine ad. This ad mentions the Mustang winning three Trans-Am and two SCCA National Rally Championships. The Mach-1 featured is very basic - no stripes, spoiler, or mags.


(from page 9 of the 1973 Collection) This is an magazine advertisement for the 1973 Mach-1 Mustang. Not sure what the tennis guy is suppose to mean. The car has a set of Forged Aluminum wheels with white wall tires. The ad starts off, "What makes Mustang different is the way it looks, handles, and makes you feel."


(from page 2 of the 1974 Collection) This Mustang advertisement shows the newly styled Mach-1 Mustang II in a desert in front of some rocky hills. It says, "The new Ford Mustang II." It's a two page ad. This is page 1.

(from page 2 of the 1974 Collection) Page two of the Mustang II ad says, "It just may be the best news from Detroit in 9 1/2 years." It says that the Mach-1 is just as revolutionary as the first 1964 Mustang. Foremost, this mustang is smaller than last year. It's even a bit smaller than the 1964 Mustang!

(from page 4 of the 1981 Collection) Check out this 1981 Mustang Magazine ad. It shows a Hot Stuff Mustang where you can turn high mileage into excitement. I think they are talking about the high gas milage of 34 mpg highway and 23 mpg city.


(from page 2 of the 1994 Collection) This is a magazine advertisement for the 1994 Mustang GT. It says, "The All-New Mustang GT. It is what it was and more." Then it shows some styling clues that are similar between the 1964 Mustang and the 1994 Mustang. They both have a horse in the grille. They both have rear wheel vents. They both have interiors with floor mounted shifters. They both have three slotted taillights.


(from page 12 of the 1998 Collection) Check it out! This magazine ad shows a Rio Red 1998 Mustang V6 coupe. Its a Gift Horse ad! It goes on to say, "Ford choice now makes it easier than ever to get the must Mustang for your money." It lists all the standard options you can get for $16,495; 15-inch polished aluminum wheels, power 4-wheel disc brakes, Securlock passive anti-theft system, power decklid release windows and door locks, air conditioning, 80-watt premium sound AM/FM stereo with cassette, CD player, tilt steering wheel, remote keyless entry system, 3.8L 150-horsepower V6 engine, and a 5-speed manual transmission.
