(from page 7 of the 1978 Collection) Black 1978 Mustang II Cobra II hatchback owned by Bryan Russell from Chesterfield. Michigan. It says "Hellraiser II" on the windshield. Bryan tells us more, "I got the car about eight months ago. I have been looking for this car 10 years and finally got it. It is an original Cobra II with 5.0. It had a 302 in it when I got it. It now has a 347 with 355 rear. I had this same car in high school and wanted another one. The car is really cool gets lots of looks."

(from page 7 of the 1978 Collection) White 1978 Mustang Cobra II hatchback with red and orange graphics and stripes, front air dam, fog lamps, rear wing, rear window louvers, and aftermarket wheels. This car has the largest 1978 Mustang engine, a 134hp (at 4000rpm), 302 cubic inch (5.0 liter) 2 barrel, V8; with 35K miles on it.

(from page 8 of the 1978 Collection) Check out this Black 1978 Mustang II Cobra II taken in 1979. It was owned by George Dixon from Knoxville, Tennessee. It had a 302ci V8 and an automatic. George shares, "I had this Mustang back in 1979. It had the factory T-tops and the white painted wheels. I did put aftermarket 'Turbo Back' mags on it. I wish we had digital cameras back then but this is my only picture... sigh"

(from page 8 of the 1978 Collection) Chamois Glow 1978 Mustang II Ghia gold half vinyl roof coupe with fog lamps, full wheel covers, body side trim, and a 140ci (2.3 liter) 2-barrel 4-cylinder engine. The 04 in the VIN indicates that this is a Ghia optioned Mustang, but this Ghia has the standard (lowest power) Y-code engine. See our 1978 Data Explorer for more information on decoding this VIN or see other 1978 Ghia optioned Mustangs.

(from page 8 of the 1978 Collection) Dark Midnight Blue 1978 Mustang II King Cobra owned by Adam from Wisconsin. This is our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting August 27, 2018. Michale tells us, "Ihis is our 1978 Mustang II King Cobra. We have had it since the early 90s. This car has the pretty much stock 5.0L 302ci V8 engine. The only things that are not stock is a Street Dominater 4bbl intake and a Carter 600cft carb. This king has only 106k miles. One thins that makes the car a little more rare is that is has full cloth seats instead of cloth and vinyl."

(from page 8 of the 1978 Collection) Bright Yellow 1978 King Cobra Mustang II hatchback with yellow color matched lace wire wheels, King Cobra side lettering, full pin striping (including the green house or around the windows), hood scoop, color matched mirrors, and a hint of the large Cobra hood graphic. The exterior of this car had not been heavily restored, its pretty much all original.

(from page 9 of the 1978 Collection) William Sanseverino sent us pictures of his 1978 King Cobra. He says, "This is my 12th Mustang over the years, and my 5th Mustang II. My first II was traded in over 35 years ago. I've had 3 previous IIs in the past 5 years, but none have had what I call 'a hole in the roof', so I sold them searching for just the 'right' II. I found this T-Top 1978 King Cobra online last year (spring 2017). It had over 97,000 miles on it, had surface rust in places and probably needed a fair amount of mechanical work, but this was finally a King Cobra with T-tops AND it was in the unusual white with blue stripe color combination so I had to have it. The interior was all original and just needed to be cleaned up. At the time factoring in what nice Kings were going for without T-tops, I took a chance and bought. After some snafus with the restoration facility doing the body work (who farmed out the rebuilt 302 V8), I finally got it back on May 4, 2018. Other than bodywork, paint & stripes, everything is original."

(from page 9 of the 1978 Collection) Black 1978 Mustang II hatchback with hood scoop and the base entry level Y-code, 93hp (at 4000rpm), 140 cubic inch (2.3 liter), 2 barrel, 4 cylinder engine. The 1974 to 1978 Mustangs were all about economy at the gas station. Lee Iacocca really influenced the design era by forcing these years to be light allowing a low power engine to provide a high performance driving experience.

(from page 10 of the 1978 Collection) Light Aqua metallic 1978 Mustang II coupe with lower white paint; wire wheels; and a 104hp (at 4000rpm), 2.8 liter (170cubic inch), 2 barrel, 6 cylinder engine. These are not the original wheels.

(from page 10 of the 1978 Collection) An incredible Bright Red 1978 Mustang II Ghia luxury optioned coupe with white vinyl roof; white body side molding; color matched sport mirrors; wire wheel covers; fog lamps; and a 134hp (at 4000rpm), 5.0 liter (302ci), 2 barrel, V8 engine. This car has only 28K miles on it!

(from page 13 of the 1978 Collection) A beautiful Tangerine 1978 Mustang II coupe with fog lamps, full wheel covers, body side moldings, pin stripes, and a 6 cylinder, 170 cubic inc, 2 barrel engine rated at 104hp (at 4000rpm). Amazingly this car has only 11,000 miles on it.

(from page 14 of the 1978 Collection) Take a look at this super clean Dark Jade 1978 Mustang Cobra II hatchback. See the "347" on the hood scoop? It has a 1995 Cobra 5.0 Liter engine under the hood with a 347 Stroker crank. It has run as good as 11.75 in the quarter mile!

(from page 14 of the 1978 Collection) White 1978 Mustang II Ghia notchback coupe with a tan interior. This car has the big 134hp 5.0L V8 engine. It has little V8 emblems on the front fenders.

(from page 14 of the 1978 Collection) 1978 Ford Mustang II ...takes you away from an ordinary day! says the cover of the 1978 Ford Mustang promotional booklet showing a Silver metallic Mustang II t-roof convertible hatchback (yes, Ford called this a T-Roof Convertible, no true 1978 Mustang convertibles were made), forged aluminum wheels, bumper guards, fog lamps, and red pin striping to match the red interior.

(from page 15 of the 1978 Collection) Check out this Chamois tan 1978 Mustang II hatchback with color matched body side moldings, styled steel wheels with trim rings, and the 2.3L (140ci) 4-cylinder engine. This is one of 3 yellows or golds offered on a Mustang in 1978. A Bright Yellow and a Chamois Glow (gold) was also offered. See our 1978 Mustang Data Explorer for more color information.

(from page 15 of the 1978 Collection) Yellow, orange, red tri-striped White 1978 Mustang coupe with grille mounted fog lamps and full wheel covers. This Ford promotional photo shows some of the amazing stripe options available in 1978.
