The 9 is for the 1969 model year. T is for the Dearborn Michigan assembly plant. 02 is for the fastback body style. S is the 390ci 320hp V8 engine. 217729 is the sequential unit number.

This car was originally ordered with the GT sport option package which included the 351ci Winsor V8, special handling options, racing stripes, dual exhaust, hood pin type latches, and styled wheels with Argent Silver trim and GT hubcaps and gas cap. The GT option($147 base upgrade) was offered on all body styles. This car has a dealer installed hood tachometer which has also been restored.

(from page 12 of the 1969 Collection) Aztec Aqua 1969 Mach 1 Mustang fastback owned by Richard Ellis from Gilbert, West Virginia. It has a manual transmission and it's original 302ci V8 engine. Richard's daughter, Beth, sent the photo and adds, "This is my father's pride and joy. He purchased it new and has recently restored it to it's original grandeur. It has only 30,000 original miles. The only thing he lacks is the stripes and he is working on that now. Would love to hear from anyone else who has the same model or knows anyone who does."

This special model was purchased new in Torrence, California, possibly an extension of the 1968 Rainbow of Colors promotion.. This Mach 1 has a 351ci V8 engine, 4-speed Top Loader with Hurst shifter, 10 spline clutch kit, stainless steel racing flywheel, 9-inch rearend, dual exhaust, front disc brakes, and Deluxe interior. This Mach 1 has a DSO of 72-5016. The paint code is a 5 - which is really a blank followed by a 5. The 5 is for the factory blacked out hood.

The standard Grande options for 1969 were the deluxe cloth seats, wire wheel covers, rocker panel moldings, rim blow deluxe steering wheel, color keyed racing mirrors, electric clock, bright pedal pads, two tone tape stripe, a sport ground package, modified rear suspension, wheel tip and rear deck moldings, exterior ID plaque (Grande lettering on C-pillar), interior woodgrain highlights, padded trim panels and arm rests, and padded door panels with courtesy lights. Other exterior options not included in the 1969 Grande package included the white vinyl roof. There is 70K miles on this car and it has been kept very well.
