(from page 4 of the 1980 Collection) A Medium Gray 3-door 4-cylinder turbo hatchback is shown on this page of the 1980 Ford Mustang promotional booklet next to a Polar White turbo hatchback with accent tape stripe option. The 140 cubic inch (2.3 liter), 2-barrel, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine was an option which was rated at 150hp (at 4800 rpm) and 165ft-lb max torque (at 3600rpm). This page says, The 2.3 liter turbocharged engine has acceleration comparable to some other cars with V-8 engines. Plenty of reserve power for passing or freeway merging. The turbocharger is basically an air compressor driven by recycled exhaust gases. At your command, it pressurizes atmospheric air to increase the velocity of the fuel/air mixture. This simple principle produces great acceleration.

(from page 4 of the 1980 Collection) The 1980 Ford Mustang promotional booklet page showing the Cobra hatchback model says, Bold new expression of our sports car for the 80's. Mustang 3-door Cobra strikes a new image of sportiness in 1980. New styling features - Indy 500 Pace Car front end with integral spoiler and dual fog lamps, unique rear-opening hood scoop (non-functional), rear deck spoiler, exclusive tap stripe treatment. Plus blackout greenhouse moldings (moldings around all the windows), remote control styled mirrors, black lower Tu-Tone paint. These hint at what Cobra is under its gleaming hood. Turbocharged! The 2.3 liter turbo engine comes standard on Cobra. At first you won't believe you're driving on four cylinders as the turbo kicks in, delivering acceleration comparable to some other cars with V-8 engines. Acceleration you can use for passing or freeway merging... Also included on Cobra is a special suspension system with Michelin TRX tires mounted on 390 mm (15.3 in.) forged metric aluminum wheels. We call Cobra the boldest of the Mustang breed. For reasons that speak well for themselves.

(from page 4 of the 1980 Collection) A Polar White Ghia optioned Mustang Hatchback is shown on this page of the 1980 Ford Mustang promotional booklet saying, In the tradition of elegant, sporty cars. Ghia is the elegant member of the Mustang herd. Youthful and carefree, with many luxury refinements. Ghia is indeed distinctive, as our display models reveal. Full wraparound bodyside moldings with dual color-coordinated accent stripe inserts. Dual remote control styled mirrors. Bright rocker panel moldings. Dual accent pin stripes. Color-keyed window frames and rear pillar louvers. 14 inch turbine wheel covers. Plus a Ghia insignia on decklid or liftgate. (the Ghia is offered on both hatchback and coup body styles) No less luxurious is Ghia's interior. Low-back bucket seats with European-style headrests and inertia seat back releases, luxury door trim with soft insert appliques, medallion, carpeted lower panels and map pockets... Plus deluxe belts with tension eliminators, deep cut-pile carpeting. RH visor vanity mirror and roof-mounted assist handle. Also, carpeted luggage compartment (2-door). Deluxe Sound Package, and the Light Group... With all this luxury, Ghia packs the performance of the economical 2.3 liter engine/4-speed manual transmission powertrain, one of Mustang's many Better Ideas for the 80's.
