(from page 7 of the 2002 Collection) Black 2002 Mustang Saleen S-281E Extreme coupe factory serial number 53. Saleen only converted 34 Mustangs to Extreme coupes in 202. This is one of them. Extreme comes from the fact that the engine puts out 425 horsepower which is 60 horsepower more than the standard Saleen S-281S/C supercharged version. The Extreme comes standard with the 13-inch Saleen brakes and upgraded wheel and tire package. Items exclusive to the Extreme include; louvered hood, S351 rear spoiler, and center exit exhaust.

(from page 8 of the 2002 Collection) The Saleen Extreme model engine was upgraded from the regular S-281 model with a Saleen spec; forged steel crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, forged aluminum cylinder heads, Saleen high performance valve springs, and special Saleen cam shafts. All that adds up to 425hp at 6000rpm and 440ft-lb of torque at 4000rpm.

They where all painted black with two-tone parchment interiors. 717 of them were coupes and 1323 were convertibles. They came with the 4.6L 260hp V8 engine from the GT. Brent says, "I bought a truck six months prior. I told dealer that I loved Mustangs. A few months later he phoned said, 'Get in here, I have a Mustang for you.'"
