(from page 28 of the 1965 Collection) A peek into the trunk. The spare tire cover matches the carpet.

(from page 28 of the 1965 Collection) The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is located on top of the fender under the hood on the driver's side. Let's decode it. 5 is for the 1965 model year. R is for the San Jose, California assembly plant. 09 is for the fastback body style. C is for the optional 200hp 289ci V8 engine. 135094 is the sequential unit number. Check out our 1965 VIN Decoder.

(from page 28 of the 1965 Collection) The Vehicle Certification Tag is found on the rear inside edge of the driver's side door. This one appears to be restored. The assembly date code is 12J indicating that this car was scheduled for assembly on the 12th of September, 1964, only one month after the production start of 1965 Mustangs.

(from page 29 of the 1965 Collection) Ivy Green 1965 Mustang GT fastback owned by Johannes Mikkelsen from Denmark. This is our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting January 26, 2020. Johannes tells us more, "It is a real GT and has the optional deluxe Pony Interior. We bought this car in 2018, from a guy in Austin Texas and had it shipped to Denmark. He had owned the car for 6 years, but only had interest in the car as an investment. The owner that had the car between 1991 and 2012 had the car restored. The car has 90% original sheet metal and 90% original interior which is really something special. The car has lived most its life in Louisville Kentucky. From 1965 to 2012. Its a high optioned car which include: A code engine, C4 automatic transmission, Interior decor group, full length console, GT Equipment Group, Rally Pac, Factory Air conditioner, Back up lamps, power steering, heavy duty battery, 2 speed wipers, rear seat belts, and inside day/nite mirror."

(from page 29 of the 1965 Collection) Another awesome shot of Johannes's Ivy Green 1965 Mustang GT fastback.

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) This is a black and white vintage Ford photo of the first 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350 fastback. It has the Cragar wheels. You can see that there is no rear seat.

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) Another vintage black and white photo of the first Wimbledon White 1965 Mustang Shelby GT350. This one is taken with a model sitting in it for an advertisement. This photo was taken at the Shelby American Los Angeles Airport facility.

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) Same setup as the last photo, but showing more of the front end of the Shelby GT350. Looks like the exhaust pipes exit just past the rear axle under the car. I wonder if this one has mufflers?

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) This is a cool overhead shot of the first 1965 Mustang Shelby GT350 built.

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) Another overhead shot of the first 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350. Nice! I wonder if this car is still around today?

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) This is a rare one. It's a real Wimbledon White 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350. Two things make this shot rare. Only 521 of these were built in 1965. And it's being shown in the rain! I spotted this at the 2009 All Ford show at Uftring Ford in East Peoria, Illinois.

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) Check out the license plate. This is the real thing!

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) Wimbledon White 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350, left front view.

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) This is kind of a neat shot. Check out the reflection in the parking lot. There are two Wimbledon White 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350s.

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) This is a cool shot. I didn't know how cool it was until I got home and reviewed the photos I took. Check out the rain drops half on and half off the stripes. I liked this one so much that it was the cover art for our 2010 Mustang Calendar and the profile shot on our Facebook Fan Page.

(from page 33 of the 1965 Collection) Nice looking blue fastback.

(from page 35 of the 1965 Collection) Gold 1965 Mustang fastback with full wheel covers, metal rocker panel trim, and a 289ci V8 engine. This car was at the 2010, Mustang car show in Port Angeles, Washington. The owner says this is 1968 Sunlit Gold, a beautiful color, even on an overcast day.
