(from page 53 of the 1968 Collection) Mustang Colt and Lady Mustang limited edition 1968 Mustang hardtop newspaper advertisement from Bill Marsh Ford of Newtown, Pennsylvania. We found this advertisement in the May 9th, 1968 edition of the Bucks County Courier Times of Levittown, Pennsylvania. It's a his and hers sale. Both Mustangs have names plates, numbered identification badges, bullet tip front fenders, and other upgrades. These special models appear to be mostly dealer added options and only offered at Marsh Ford. See the other photos of this set for more details.

(from page 53 of the 1968 Collection) The 1968 Mustang Colt features racy "C" stripe, bullet-tip front fenders, special Colt I.D. ornament, pop-open gas filler cap, special unique dashboard, special wheel covers, and whitewall tires. The Colt name plate appears to behind the rear quarter window where the Colt identification ornament (enlarged on in the lower left) is on the front fender. The exterior color of the Colt Mustang is not specified.

(from page 53 of the 1968 Collection) The 1968 Lady Mustang by Marsh Ford features a rich vinyl roof, "Lady Mustang" nameplate on door, T-Bird style "S" bar on roof, special unique dashboard, special wheel covers, special vanity mirror on drivers side, and bullet tip lights on front fenders. No specific exterior paint color is specified.

(from page 53 of the 1968 Collection) Here's a special one! It's a Passionate Pink 1968 Mustang hardtop. The Passionate Pink (repaint) is the original color - the black hood stripes and hood scoop were added by the owner. Why is it painted pink? Probably because it was part of a dealer sales promotion. Both the Rainbow of Colors and Color of the Month promotions included this shade of pink. Since the DSO is not LA or San Jose and it wasn't built in San Jose, it's not the Rainbow of Colors. This was built in Dearborn and has a DSO of Cleveland (322391) and delivered to Beasley Ford in Columbus Ohio (dealer 42C001).

(from page 53 of the 1968 Collection) The engine is a straight six.

(from page 53 of the 1968 Collection) The interior is black.

(from page 53 of the 1968 Collection) The trunk is pink!

(from page 53 of the 1968 Collection) Oh my, check out this 1968 Salt Lake City Rainbow of Colors Mustang hardtop in special order purple! The photo looks like a painting. Jayme owns this car and is getting ready for restoration. It has the optional J-code, 230hp, 302ci 4V V8 under the hood, GT side stripe, full wheel covers, parchment interior trim, C4 automatic transmission, and of course special purple paint. We have been looking for the purple paint that has been listed in ads for the Rainbow of Colors promotion, and this one shows it off. We think it is Ford special paint code WT9083 (see the door data tag photo for a non-faded view of this paint). This amazing car and great photo is our Attitude of the Week starting July 9th, 2022.

(from page 53 of the 1968 Collection) Close up of the passenger side front fender showing off the 302ci fender badge. The hub caps and side stripe is more visible from the other side photo.

(from page 54 of the 1968 Collection) This view shows off the GT style side stripe and hub cap wheel discs.

(from page 54 of the 1968 Collection) Door data tag and non-faded original purple special order paint is captured in this photo. The VIN number indicates the J-code 302ci V8. 65A for 2 door hardtop body style, blank paint code indicating a special order paint, 2U interior trim of parchment standard bucket seats, 21C scheduled build date of March 21, 1968, 73 district code (DSO) of Salt Lake City with a special order code of 3060, 5 3.00:1 standard differential, and W C4 automatic transmission. See our purple mustang page for all the special order purple paint shades available at the time. We think this is Ford special code WT9083.

(from page 56 of the 1968 Collection) Check out this Diamond Blue 1968 Mustang hardtop. It has a blue interior and a 6-cylinder engine under the hood. Diamond Blue was the lightest of six standard blue paints offered on the 1968 Mustang.

(from page 56 of the 1968 Collection) Diamond Blue 1968 Mustang hardtop, right rear view.

(from page 57 of the 1968 Collection) The little 6-cylinder engine had a displacement of 200ci and was rated at 115 horsepower.

(from page 57 of the 1968 Collection) It is an in-line 6-cylinder engine. All the spark plugs are on the left side of the engine.
