This was our featured Attitude Of the Week for the week starting November 14, 2010. The owner says that it is very correct with one exception - aluminum Z304 racing heads. He drives it everywhere! This photo is also our 12,000th Mustang photo posted to the site.

(8 photos of a 1965 Wimbledon White Mustang Shelby GT-350 Fastback) This is a real 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350 fastback. The Guardsman Blue rocker stripes are standard on the 1965 Shelby. The LeMans style stripes over the top of the car were optional and was applied by the dealer Sexton Ford Sales Inc. in Moline, Illinois. The hood on a 1965 Shelby is fiberglass.

Only 521 of these were built in 1965. And it's being shown in the rain! I spotted this at the 2009 All Ford show at Uftring Ford in East Peoria, Illinois.

(6 photos of a 1965 Wimbledon White Mustang Shelby GT-350 Fastback) Although technically serial number 003, this Shelby Ford Mustang GT350 was the first unit completed and was used in publicity photos for the upcoming line of customized vehicles. Serial numbers 001 and 002 were completed later and were race versions. In 1979, this car was restored as a race car and raced. It was later discovered that it was originally built as the first street GT350.
It will be restored to its original condition. We photographed this amazing car at the 2010 Mustang Club of America Grand Nationals car show held in Bellevue, Washington; and was our
Attitude Of The Week for the week starting February 27th, 2011.
(2 photos of a 1965 Wimbledon White Mustang Shelby GT-350 Prototype Fastback) These are two of the three 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350 prototypes. The front one is a street version - serial number SFM5S003. The other is one of two race prototype versions (SFM5R003 GT-350R Prototype). These started as white K-code (HiPo 271ho 289ci) 1965 Mustang fastbacks. Where is the third one? It exists and is in a private collection.

It has a 289ci 306hp engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. Other features included Gabriel Silver Eagle rear shocks, Cure-Ride up-lock front shocks, 9x14 tires on 5x14 wheels, 5.13 rear, engine torque strap, Belanger drag headers, NHRA-approved Cobra scattershield, Hurst Competition-Plus shifter, driveshaft safety loop, and AFX rear traction bars.
(5 photos of a 1965 Wimbledon White Mustang Shelby GT-350 Race Fastback) This Wimbledon White 1965 Mustang Shelby GT-350R fastback was built for racing. It was not a street-legal car. This car was listed on Craigslist back in 2008. The photos are from the listing. At the time, it was the most expensive car ever listed on Craigslist. The listing said,
"Car #530 one of only 35 Produced (1 of 25 still remaining). These "R" code GT 350's were unique in that they represented the first time an American auto manufacturer offered a strictly-for-racing model that was SCCA B/Production compliant. This vehicle was shipped to Lima Peru on 7/29/66 and raced extensively on the South American circuit. It was the South American Champion in it's class and the Peruvian National Champion in the late 60's. Brought back to the US in 1984, I have a copy of the original Shelby American Invoice Referring to SFM 5R530 as a 1966 GT 350 Race dated June 28, 1966. PLEASE NOTE: According to the Illustrated Shelby Buyers Guide by Lamm & Nicaise 1992 page 60 - "That last batch incidentally is often referred to as the 1966 R-models; they were assembled after regular 1965 GT350 production had shut down" "They were given serial numbers , though, and titled as 1965 models." # 5R530 is one of these vehicles."

(7 photos of a 1966 Wimbledon White Mustang Shelby GT-350 Fastback) This is a real Wimbledon White 1966 Shelby GT-350 fastback. It is a "carry-over" car. The first 252 Shelby GT-350s for 1966 had 1965 Mustang bodies and 1965 Mustang serial number plates under their Shelby serial number plates. These "carry-over" cars had mostly 1965 features including standard Koni shocks and their engines where painted black instead of blue.
(7 photos of a 1966 Orange And White Mustang Fastback) Check out this 1966 Mustang fastback owned by Tony and Tammy Seader from La Salle, Colorado. It's painted Sunset Orange (top) over Pearl White (bottom). Tony tells us more, "We purchased the car about six years ago from a local car lot here in our small town. The car had been for sale for some time and seemed to have made it's way through five owners in about one year. Apparently the car had issues with the charging system. We were looking for a mate for our 66 coupe so we decided to buy it and work through the problems. After some trial and error we discovered that it had the wrong wiring harness. Once we replaced it with the correct harness and new voltage regulator the issue was solved. When we took possession of the car it had horrible faded red paint with black interior. We drove it that way for three years replacing only the wheels and tires, shocks, spring, and coils. Once we decided we couldn't stand that faded out red paint anymore the restoration was on! We stripped the car in the garage then took it to get it sandblasted. Once we decided the paint colors and scheme we took it to the body shop where we decided on many modifications. These mods included shaving the drip rails, cowl, and rear vents. We added the front racing apron and deck lid. Both the front and rear windows are glued in and window trim is delete. The air cleaner is custom made from a GT350 hood scoop and bolts onto the carb to make a real shaker hood. Dual tip side exhaust was added and American Racing torque thrust II rims."

Domenic adds, "Complete professional restoration. All Shelby equipment is there; alloy pan, valve covers, Cobra intake, and SS exhaust system with SS headers. It has new tires, lowered suspension, Magnum 500 Shelby wheels, SS disc brakes, and a 4-speed top loader. This car has no issues. It is one of the best replica's I have seen. "
