This Cobra II has red stripes with white color combination which was new for 1977. The other new color combination for the Cobra II in 1977 was white with green stripes. These two color combinations joined the previous years colors of white with blue stripes, blue with white stripes, and black with gold stripes. This car has 62K miles on it and is original except for the wheels, tires, and radio.

This White with red striped 1977 Cobra II Mustang hatchback needs a bit of work but it shows what you got with the $535 Cobra II options package with the required $58 power brakes. 21% of all Mustang hatchbacks sold in 1977 were ordered with the Cobra II package. The Cobra package came with rack and pinion steering, front disc brakes, the 2.3 liter 4 cylinder engine, racing stripes, blacked out grille, black racing mirrors, rear window louvers, rear quarter window louvers, front air dam, a non-functional rear opening hood scoop, rear wing, aluminum instrument and door panels, Cobra emblems, and styled steel wheels.

1977 Ford Mustang II Sweet handling. says the cover of the 1977 Ford Mustang promotional brochure. There are two versions of this brochure. Reasons for two versions include pre and during production printings, changes in options or colors, and different version for other countries (for example Canada). This is the earlier version of the booklet, the main difference with
the later 1977 Ford Mustang promotional booklet is the location of the side stripes on the Cobra sports model shown on page 4.

Mustang II. Go as sporty as you like says the 1977 Ford Mustang promotional booklet showing a Polar White Cobra II with red over the top racing stripes, hood scoop, wire wheels, rear wing, blacked out front grille, front air dam, color matched side mirrors, and rear quarter window louvers. Early 1977 Cobras had the body side lettering low on the door, later in the year they were higher up. This photo indicates that this is the earlier 1977 Ford Promotional booklet. We also have the later version of this booklet showing the centered side stripes.

This Polar White 1977 Mustang II Cobra II hatchback was at the 2010 Mustang car show in Port Angeles, Washington. It has blue over the top stripes, blue low side stripes (centered side stripes came out in the mid to late 1977 model year), original sport wheels, a white interior, and a 302ci 2V V8 engine under the hood.

This color combination (blue stripes on white) was introduced on the Cobra II in 1976. In 1977, green stripes or red stripes was also available for the white body color. See our 1977 Cobra data explorer for more information.

Does this car look familiar? It should if you have the
early 1977 Mustang promotional book, its on the cover. Or at least a similar Polar White 1977 Ghia coupe with a half green vinyl roof. Check out the lace wire type wheels and real wood vernier dash. This car was at the 2010 Mustang Club of America Grand Nationals held in Bellevue, Washington.

We talked to the owner and he says that this car was originally polar white and had a green vinyl roof, so he restored it to match the cover of the early 1977 Ford Mustang promotional booklet, even down to the green vinyl side molding and green pin stripes.

Check out this awesome White 1978 Cobra II Mustang hatchback. It is our Attitude Of The Week for June, 5, 2009. Its owner says, "I bought the car in November 2008. The car had been in storage for many years. I put in a new correct 302ci long block and did other repairs from the car being in storage for so many years and not taken care of.
