This photo shows the new aerodynamically design front of the 1983 Mustang with deeply recessed headlamp housings. This was the only year Mustang did not offer fog lamps. (from page 3 of the 1983 Collection) Kevin James just picked up this 1983 Mustang GT hatchback. Kevin adds, "It will have a 5.0l engine out of an '88 Mustang with GT40 heads, 17" bullitt wheels, H&R lowering springs, and 5 lug conversion with rear disc brakes. The car is all original except for the TSW wheels on it now. It even has the factory vinyl bags for the T-tops. It is a 5-speed. The 5.0l engine in it now has some issues, hence the engine swap."

(from page 4 of the 1983 Collection) Kevin sends us updated photos of his 1983 Mustang GT hatchback project. Kevin shares, "I put on a '86 nose cone and 16" pony wheels - 245/50 16 rear and 245/45/16 front. I ordered a pile of new parts; new water pump, Ford Racing 9mm wires, new dist cap and rotor, cold air intake, new battery tray, new motor mounts, timing cover, and Ford Racing engine gasket kit. I am picking up a donor '86 5.0l car for the '86 engine, tank, computer, and 8.8 rear end."

(from page 4 of the 1983 Collection) Red 1983 Mustang GT hatchback owned by Kevin James. This is our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting July 28, 2013. Kevin tells us, "The nose has been painted red and the original paint has been buffed and polished. The wheels have been painted as well. The tires are 245 50 16 in the rear and 225 55 16 up front. I installed Tokico hp struts and shocks. The front end has '90 spindles and 11" brakes. The rear has an 8.8 from a '86 with 3.27 gears. It has new tubular upper and lower control arms with energy suspension bushings and without the rear isolators. The car sits 26" in the front and 26-5/8" in the rear. I have front seats from a 1990. New black carpet from late model restoration. The car stops so great now and the launches are firmer and the 3.27 gears get it out of the hole better."

(from page 5 of the 1983 Collection) Viper Red 1983 Mustang GT hatchback owned by Mark C from Marietta, Georgia. Mark says, "I am the second owner, and have owned my 1983 GT for about 15 years. It is a #s matching 302 HO 5-speed with all original interior with the premium sound system. The car has a few performance mods - i.e. camshaft, headers, and HEI distributor. The car runs and looks great for a 30 year old car."
