(from page 7 of the 1968 Collection) This amazing 1968 white vinyl top Mustang owned by Mal Hillier of Melbourne, Australia, has all the codes and special order color to be a Spanish Gold 1968 Rainbow of Colors West Coast promotional Mustang and was our Attitude of the Week for April 26th, 2009. It was built in San Jose, ordered in Los Angeles, under a special order with special paint WT3822. Mal writes: My Mustang was imported in to Australia from Los Angeles as a running car and I purchased it from an importer. I knew little about Mustangs and the hobby grew from there. The body and Paint have been refurbished and the color has been professionally matched to the original color in the trunk. Body was rust free fortunately. The Mustang was in very good original condition when purchased and I drove it home, I have done most of the mechanicals and put it all together my self, I also have the original owners manual and is a matching numbers car. But most of all, I love driving it. Spanish Gold shares the same paint code as Black Hills Gold used in January 1968 for the Color of the Month Mustang promotion. The Color of the Month promotion offered a special ordered color and sport options for each of the first 4 months of 1968. Black Hills Gold was offered in January for the New Years; Passionate Pink in February for Valentines day; Emerald Green in March for Saint Patrick's Day, and Eastertime Coral for April. (from page 8 of the 1968 Collection) The door tag on Mal's Mustang reads: 65B hardtop body style, blank special order color, 6U parchment bucket seats, 23B scheduled for assembly on the 23rd of February, 1968, 71 ordered in the Los Angeles area, under special order 0781, 2 2.79:1 rear axle ratio, and W automatic transmission.

(from page 8 of the 1968 Collection) Options originally included on this car are: 289ci V8 engine, automatic transmission, power disc brakes, power steering, air conditioning, deluxe interior, overhead and lower consoles, chrome styled steel wheels, vinyl roof, deluxe seat belts (not in use).

(from page 16 of the 1968 Collection) This 1968 Mustang still has it's original 428 Cobra Jet engine. Other things have changed since 1968. It was Lime Gold in color, with an automatic C-6 transmission and 3.50 rear end. It is now black with a 4.86 rear. The C-6 transmission is still there but add an 8-inch Coan converter with 5500 stall, manual reverse shift valve body, and a Winters shifter.

(from page 16 of the 1968 Collection) Those are 31x18.5 Hoosier Quick Time Pro DOT approved tires on Weld wheels. Yep, those tires are 18.5 inches wide!

(from page 16 of the 1968 Collection) Here's that original R-code 428ci Cobra Jet engine. A stock Cobra Jet put out 335hp in 1968. This one probably puts out a little bit more with it's modifications: bored .030 over, Ross pistons, polished rods, CJ80E heads not ported, 8 quart oil pan, high torque starter, 850 cfm Speed Demon double pumper carb, Port-O-Sonic intake, Holley electric fuel pump, Lunati solid roller cam and lifters, Manton custom push rods, FE MAX roller rockers, HD rocker shafts, billet end support stands, billet rocker spacers, billet rocker stands, MSD billet distributor, and MSD 6AL box and coil with rev limiter.

We photographed Amy's car at the 2011 Spring Mustang and Cougar car show sponsored by the North Olympic Mustangs and Cougar club in Port Angeles, Washington.
