This is was featured Attitude Of The Week photo for the week starting November 30, 2008. Steve just completed the restoration. He repainted it with the original color. It has it's original 6-cylinder engine under the hood. Steve adds, "I bought the car in July, 2008. It has 38,000 original miles. It has no power options. It is a nice California car that is in excellent stock condition."
(3 photos of a 1966 Raven Black Mustang Sprint Hardtop) This Black 1966 Sprint 200 hardtop is owned by Aldo Rivas of Clovis, New Mexico and is our Attitude Of The Week for September 6th, 2009. Aldo writes, I own an all original 1966 Mustang Sprint 200 which I located on Craigslist in September 2006. The Mustang was originally purchased from Muriel Carlson of Seattle WA on March 3, 1966 from Westside Ford, Inc. Seattle WA. The Mustang was posted as a 1966 Mustang Coupe, I started to get more interested when I found out it had 87,000 documented miles, and being an all original Sprint 200. After talking with the owner I found out the Mustang was his fathers who he purchased from the original owner in 1972. I drove to Lake Stevens to have a look at the Mustang and was surprised to see it in such good condition for being original. Today I have 92,000 miles on it, I only take it out on nice days. Some cool things are I have the original owners manual, all receipts from 1972 to present and top ot off the radio works. The only work I have done is a major brake job and minor carburetor rebuild. The Mustang still has the original spare tire that I took to Les Schwab to get inspected and re-inflated. The tires and wheels were purchased from Les Schwab in 1993 when the Mustang had 80,695 miles, so that calculates to the car being driven about 706 miles a year since 1993. I plan on keeping the Mustang original, sure she has some bumps and scratches but that adds to its character. Now if I only bought the 1967 Shelby GT-350 I test drove in El Paso TX in 1986 for the asking price of $7000 OBO, my life would be complete.

This beauty is our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting November 18, 2012. Daniel tells us more, "This 1966 factory GT coupe just spent the last 36 years with it's previous owner in Greensboro, North Carolina. Frank (now 82 years old) was the second owner as he'd bought it from the original owner who ordered it as a customer order back in late November 1965. It was optioned out nicely with an A code engine, power steering, a banded windscreen, green glass, pony interior, Rally Pac, long console, rear speaker, and AM radio to complement all the GT extras. It arrived in Australia in January of this year with 68,336 original miles. It still has many original features including the trunk liner, spare white wall tire, jack and ratchet, all panels and interior are also original (except for the carpet and mats), All bolt on parts such as power steering pump, 4bbl carburetor, intake manifold and so on are original numbers matching as well. This beautiful example of American automotive design still has the buck tag attached and is accompanied by the original factory build sheet of which I found the last piece (Bottom left hand corner) stuck under the passengers seat just a few weeks ago."

(2 photos of a 1966 Black Mustang Sprint Hardtop Advertisement) Mustang zooms past its first million ...starts its second million with a Special Mustang Sale says a print ad in the April 1st, 1966 edition of the Seattle Times. This is actually the first Sprint model with the 200cu inline 6-cycle engine, interior and exterior upgrades. The options listed as part of the sale include: wire-style wheels covers, accent paint stripe, chrome air cleaner cover, 5 dial instrument cluster, a lively 200cu six, sports steering wheel, 7-feature safety package, courtesy lights, and much more as the ad says. There is also mention of a Western Journeys 128 pages of breath-taking trips and western adventure in full color. This book was a special 1966 edition of Ford Times Magazine which was printed by Ford and came out monthly from 1908 to 1993.

(2 photos of a 1967 Black And Aspen Red Mustang Ski Country Special Hardtop) Jason of Michigan brought this special Mustang in the rough back from Nebraska. He saw it a few years ago showing its unusual orange original paint here and there. Jason ran the VIN and door data code (65A blank 2A 16C 511913 0 W) and found it to be originally painted Aspen Red, ordered in the Denver area, and has filled in truck lid holes from a luggage rack. This all matches the local Denver special order Ski Country Special promotional package which was the winter version of High Country Special. This promotion featured
5 special order paints (Aspen Red being one of them), ski racks (trunk lid luggage rack), snow tires, and a Ski Country Special rear deck plaque. Jason hasn't found the original plaque but he's been able to confirm from other owners that this is a Ski Country Special. "Started as a 6 cylinder no option car. It was in bad shape and had been rear ended. I decided it was a good project to modify. It sits on air ride suspension, Mustang II front end, back halved on a 2-link and panhard bar in the rear, new quarters. I shaved the drip rails, door handles, locks, quarter vents, trunk lock, antenna, gas cap. Filler worked and primed and blocked until laser straight. Chrome was taken down and color matched, PPG black, PPG clear. It has a 302 with e303 cam, roller rockers, forged pistons, T5 trans, Ford Explorer rear end narrowed 3", disk brakes all the way around, 18 and 20" rims, new original style interior, custom console, and the trunk is leather paneled."

My Mustang was imported in to Australia from Los Angeles as a running car and I purchased it from an importer. I knew little about Mustangs and the hobby grew from there. The body and Paint have been refurbished and the color has been professionally matched to the original color in the trunk. Body was rust free fortunately. The Mustang was in very good original condition when purchased and I drove it home, I have done most of the mechanicals and put it all together my self, I also have the original owners manual and is a matching numbers car. But most of all, I love driving it. Spanish Gold shares the same paint code as Black Hills Gold used in January 1968 for the Color of the Month Mustang promotion. The Color of the Month promotion offered a special ordered color and sport options for each of the first 4 months of 1968. Black Hills Gold was offered in January for the New Years; Passionate Pink in February for Valentines day; Emerald Green in March for Saint Patrick's Day, and Eastertime Coral for April. (2 photos of a 1968 Black Mustang Hardtop) Jim Foster shares photos of his black 1968 Mustang. It has it's original 289ci V8 and an automatic transmission. Jim tells us,
"This is my first car, 'DABEEST'. I have owned it since August 1976. It was my daily driver for the first 30 years. During the time I have had the car, I have put over 500,000 miles on the original engine and it has not been rebuilt. On May 26, 2006 it was totaled in an accident. I took the money I got from the insurance company, cashed out a 401K, and restored my car. Two of the following pictures are of the accident. Since the restoration, I have entered it into numerous car shows/events and have won numerous trophies/awards and several honorable mentions. It was also used in the music video 'The One that Got Away, by Katy Perry. 'DABEEST' can be found on the web."

(5 photos of a 1968 Black Hills Gold Mustang Color Of The Month Hardtop) This 1968 Mustang hardtop was originally ordered by Galloways Garage, Inc of Newburgh, New York as a Sprint B with automatic transmission, special Black Hills Gold paint (Gold Metallic WT3822), and blacked out louvered hood. The Sprint B came with a V8 engine, argent style wheels, and GT fog lamps. Two 1968 Mustang promotions come to mind: the Anniversary gold with black striped louvered hood Seattle area

Color of the Month rumored to be in the Denver area only. Both these special promotional cars were built in the San Jose plant (VIN 8R...) where this car was built in Metuchen, New Jersey (VIN 8T...); therefore, technically this car may be neither but it was ordered with the same paint as the January
Color of the Month Black Hills Gold. During the restoration of this car, the wheels have been changed to later Magnum 500 wheels.

(3 photos of a 1968 Raven Black Mustang GT California Special Hardtop) This Raven Black 1968 California Special hardtop was at the 2010 Mustang Roundup car show in Bellevue, Washington. It has the standard 12 slot argent styled wheels, white side stripe, side scoops with GT/CS graphics, California Special rear fender graphic, rear wing, and 289ci V8 engine. The C-code 289ci V8 was the most common engine for the 1968 GT/CS but others ordered included the T (200ci), J (302ci), X (290ci), S (390ci), and the R (428ci) code engines. Side stripes came in white, black, red, or metallic blue depending on the main exterior color. Most of the grilles included Lucas fog lamps but some did receive lamps manufactured by Marchal. 2.79:1 was the most common rear axle ratio but others included the 2.75:1, 3.00:1, 3.20:1, 3.23:1, and the 3.50:1. The GT California Special was a California special promotion but only about 8 percent of the cars was ordered with the GT option which included dual exhaust with quad exhaust tips, argent slotted steel wheels with GT center caps, and heavy duty front and rear spring. All other standard 1968 GT options were not used.
