(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) The hood is real shiny. It reflects well.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) Blue 1965 Mustang convertible, left side view.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) Blue 1965 Mustang convertible with a GT style rear valance.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) The convertible top is black in color. The boot (snap on cover when the top is down) is colored to match the interior. In this case black, like the top. But the convertible top could be a different color.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) This 1965 Mustang convertible has a front bench seat instead of bucket seats. It was a rare option in 1965.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) Another shot of the front bench seat. Does anyone remember driving a car with one of these? The whole bench moves forward and backward when adjusted. This is a tricky feat when you have a passenger. You have to coordinate rocking back and forth to adjust the seat. If you don't, the seat doesn't move. I remember saying, "We are going to move forward. Ready. One, two, three, go." Then I'd rock forward, the passenger backward, then alternate - we'd go no where. Pretty funny, actually.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) This car has what appears to be a 5-speed manual transmission. At least that is the shift pattern on the shifter knob.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) This is a 225 horsepower 289ci 4-barrel V8 engine. It is the middle rated V8 of the three V8 engines offered in 1965.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) Not much in the trunk except a sub-woofer can and sound system amp.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) Caspian Blue 1965 Mustang convertible with a black interior and a white convertible top. From the factory, the convertible top cover (boot) is blue to match the interior. It is not colored to match the white convertible top. For a powertrain this Mustang has the 225hp 289ci V8 connected to a 4-speed manual transmission.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) Caspian Blue 1965 Mustang convertible with it's white convertible top up. The white top goes well with the white wall tires. I'd drive it every day with the top down though.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) Caspian Blue 1965 Mustang convertible, front end view. Nice American flag and Pony license plate.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) This Mustang even has the optional trunk lid mounted luggage rack.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) This is an original A-code 289ci V8 engine. It was rated at 225 horsepower. Does anyone know what the vacuum tank(?) is on the fender by the air conditioner bracket?

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) You can get a great shot of the interior with a convertible. This interior is blue in color. Check out the front bench seat. It was an option in 1965.

(from page 31 of the 1965 Collection) Check out this great shot of the optional Rally-Pac instrumentation option. There is a 6000rpm tach to the left and a clock to the right. The clock even as the military hour markings.

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) Here is a close-up of the AM radio and air conditioning head unit. The air conditioning unit has two controls - a fan knob and a temperature limit knob.

(from page 32 of the 1965 Collection) Let's decode the first line. The Body of 76 is for the convertible while the C is for the bench seat. The Color of H is for the Caspian Blue exterior paint. The Trim of 32 is for the blue bench seat. The Date of 26 is for the 26th day of K December 1964. The DSO of 11 is for the Boston district. Axle of 1 is 3.00. Trans of 5 is for the 4-speed manual transmission. Let's now decode the second line which is the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). 5 is for the 1965 model year. F is for the Dearborn, Michigan assembly plant. 08 is for the convertible body style. A is for the 289ci 225hp V8 engine. 257591 is the sequential body number.

(from page 34 of the 1965 Collection) Check out this Caspian Blue 1965 Mustang convertible from the 2010, Port Angeles, Washington, Mustang Car show. It has steel styled wheels, deluxe side mirrors, Rally instrument package, a pony interior, and a 289cu V8 to name just a few.

(from page 34 of the 1965 Collection) Nice left front view of a Caspian Blue 1965 Mustang convertible with luggage rack, steel styled wheels, metal rocker panel trim, deluxe side mirrors, 289ci V8, and pony interior.
