Close-up of the Magnum 500 wheels and G.T.350 H side stripe and graphics. The wheel center has a simple Hertz logo. I have seen others with a white or silver background with a black checkered pattern saying "Sports Car Club". See the Hertz brochure.

Jason of Michigan brought this special Mustang in the rough back from Nebraska. He saw it a few years ago showing its unusual orange original paint here and there. Jason ran the VIN and door data code (65A blank 2A 16C 511913 0 W) and found it to be originally painted Aspen Red, ordered in the Denver area, and has filled in truck lid holes from a luggage rack. This all matches the local Denver special order Ski Country Special promotional package which was the winter version of High Country Special. This promotion featured
5 special order paints (Aspen Red being one of them), ski racks (trunk lid luggage rack), snow tires, and a Ski Country Special rear deck plaque. Jason hasn't found the original plaque but he's been able to confirm from other owners that this is a Ski Country Special. See the other photos in this set for glimpses of the original color and features.

Here is the front view with the grille, hood, and headlamps off. You can see the original paint behind the headlamps. Its very orange, but the Aspen Red of the Ski Country Special was an orange red. Hope the C-code, 289ci, 2-barrel, V8 is still in there.

The original color is very obvious inside the trunk.
(from page 10 of the 1967 Collection)
Here is a rear view showing the black and gray of the repaint. Jason found evidence of filled in luggage mount holes in the underside of the trunk lid. The previous owner of another Ski Country Special says his Ski Country Special badge was on the trunk lid also.

The orange red paint is also visible in the vent holes of the optional louvered hood where the black paint is pealing.
