(7 photos of a 1967 Purple Mustang Hardtop) This is an original Purple Metallic 1967 Mustang hardtop owned by Curly Long from Indiana. It was our featured Attitude Of The Week starting 10-5-08. Curly purchased the car from its second owner in 2004 - who knew little about the car's history. Curly sent a sample of the original paint to Marti Autoworks who provided him with the color and color code - Purple Metallic, color code M3203-A. Curly adds,
"I've talked to the folks at Marti Autoworks about the car and they are aware of only one other '67 Mustang painted Purple Metallic (it is in Iowa). The car was ordered into Chicago and was an 'Order Type: Fleet". I am currently working with the Village Manager in Lombard, Illinois concerning the car. They are called 'Lilac Town' and have or had a fleet of purple cars. We are trying to determine if my car was ever a part of their fleet or the personal car of one of the city officials." If you can offer Curly any assistance with the origins of his car, please comment below.

(5 photos of a 1968 Special Purple Mustang Hardtop) Erik from British Columbia is trying to find out more about this Special Order purple painted 1968 Mustang hardtop (and possibly also a Cougar) that was built early 1968 and ordered in BC, Canada (DSO B7, blank paint code). The paint appears to be Ford WT9083 special order purple paint which was used in the
Rainbow of Colors - West Coast promotion but we have found no evidence of this promotion further north than the Salt Lake City area. The paint is over a metallic blue but the purple paint is painted everywhere as usually done by the factory when the trim is all off (we've seen other factory special painted Mustangs with a different color underneath). Erik, who owns this car, has a friend in BC who owns a Cougar with the same paint.
Contact us or Erik if you know of others or have any ideas.
(4 photos of a 1968 Purple Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) Oh my, check out this 1968 Salt Lake City
Rainbow of Colors Mustang hardtop in special order purple! The photo looks like a painting. Jayme owns this car and is getting ready for restoration. It has the optional J-code, 230hp, 302ci 4V V8 under the hood, GT side stripe, full wheel covers, parchment interior trim, C4 automatic transmission, and of course special purple paint. We have been looking for the purple paint that has been listed in ads for the Rainbow of Colors promotion, and this one shows it off. We think it is Ford special paint code WT9083 (see the door data tag photo for a non-faded view of this paint). This amazing car and great photo is our Attitude of the Week starting July 9th, 2022.
(4 photos of a 1969 Wild Violet Purple Mustang Hardtop) Check out this Wild Violet 1969 Mustang hardtop from Tracey Russell from Adelaide, South Australia. Tracey tells us, "Growing up as a child with Grandparents who were founding members of the Studebaker Club in Western Australia, did a lot for my interest in American Classics. They also had service stations and I was always playing with dinky cars on a road mat/carpet. I fell in love with the 'pony car' at a young age and always said I would get one... come Mid Life Crisis and Woolahhhh There she is! Imported originally from the US to Queensland and restored from a Champagne Gold / Nugget Gold trim to the XY GT colour of Wild Violet. She appealed to me instantly and I fell in love. Purchased from South Australia by a girl who brought her from Qld and then I shipped her home to Western Australia. Joined the MOCWA and became a committee member and learnt more about the passion. Moved to SA in Nov 08 as the 'car scene' here is huge. Although missing the Motorplex and being in a drag crew for a '66 Stang... Racestang! So here we are two and a half years down the
track and doing her up bit by bit. I have made a few modifications like mags, extractors, interior etc. - not to mention the odd mechanical hick ups of an ol' gal. But all in all I could never sell her even though she does turn heads being so WILD. So Wildstang and I are in love and my children are waiting for the day to fight over the ownership! hehe
Drive safe and happy cruzin."
