(from page 22 of the 1968 Collection) Cool photo of Reiny van Uden's Special Order Yellow 1968 Mustang GT fastback. It even has a Rainbow of Colors license plate showing all 13 colors of the promotion.

(from page 22 of the 1968 Collection) Rear left view of a Special Order Yellow 1968 Mustang GT fastback from the Rainbow of Colors, West Coast promotion. The rear license plate frame shows the original dealer, McCoy & Mills Ford of Fullerton CA, who ordered this car.

(from page 25 of the 1968 Collection) John Roessel sent us these photos of this amazing car he used to own. It is a Madagascar Orange 1968 Mustang GT Rainbow Of Colors Edition Mustang fastback. It had it's original S-code 390ci V8 and an automatic transmission. This is our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting September 23, 2012. The Rainbow Of Colors special editions were offered on the west coast for 1968 and 1969. Here's more information.

(from page 25 of the 1968 Collection) Here is John with his Madagascar Orange 1968 Mustang GT Rainbow Of Colors Edition fastback. We got an email from the car's present owner and the car is still in great condition.

(from page 25 of the 1968 Collection) There were two oranges offered on the ROC (Rainbow Of Colors) cars. The other was Flower Power Red which was a darker more red color.

(from page 25 of the 1968 Collection) Madagascar Orange 1968 Mustang GT Rainbow Of Colors Edition fastback, right side view. This "Templeton's Service Station" is an awesome looking vintage background for photos.

(from page 25 of the 1968 Collection) Here is a close-up of the C-stripes on the side of the ROC Mustang. This is part of the GT package.

(from page 25 of the 1968 Collection) Check out the blacked out rear taillight panel. The cutouts for the dual exhaust is also part of the GT package.

(from page 25 of the 1968 Collection) Here is a cool vintage looking poster of John's Rainbow Of Colors Mustang. It shows nine of the colors offered on the ROC cars; Madagascar Orange, Hot Pink, Dandelion Yellow, Whipped Cream, Sierra Blue, Spanish Gold, Caribbean Coral, Moss Green, and Forest Green.

(from page 26 of the 1968 Collection) Erik from British Columbia is trying to find out more about this Special Order purple painted 1968 Mustang hardtop (and possibly also a Cougar) that was built early 1968 and ordered in BC, Canada (DSO B7, blank paint code). The paint appears to be Ford WT9083 special order purple paint which was used in the Rainbow of Colors - West Coast promotion but we have found no evidence of this promotion further north than the Salt Lake City area. The paint is over a metallic blue but the purple paint is painted everywhere as usually done by the factory when the trim is all off (we've seen other factory special painted Mustangs with a different color underneath). Erik, who owns this car, has a friend in BC who owns a Cougar with the same paint. Contact us or Erik if you know of others or have any ideas.

(from page 32 of the 1968 Collection) Whipped Cream 1968 Rainbow Of Colors Mustang hardtop owned by Gonzo from Hawaii. Gonzo tells us that the car was repainted close (a bit lighter) to the original color in the 2000s time frame. There is still original Whipped Cream colored paint n the door jambs, under the hood, and in the trunk. Gonzo tells us, "I had no idea I was buying a limited edition Mustang. My plans were to tear it apart and turn it into a 460cid monster, buttttt all that changed when I started looking into a weird DSO." The DSO is 721185 which we have already confirmed has a sister Whipped Cream ROC.

(from page 32 of the 1968 Collection) Here is a shot of Gonzo's Whipped Cream 1968 Rainbow Of Colors Mustang mid restoration.

(from page 32 of the 1968 Collection) And a shot after restoration. Car looks great!

(from page 32 of the 1968 Collection) Inside the trunk still shows the original Whipped Cream paint.

(from page 35 of the 1968 Collection) Dandelion Yellow 1968 Rainbow Of Colors Mustang hardtop owned by Luke from the United Kingdom. It is our Attitude Of The Week for the week starting November 30, 2014. This beauty was ordered under DSO 71-0782 and delivered to Ralph Williams Ford in Encino, California. There were 133 Mustangs ordered on the same DSO special order number. We know that some also went to Mel Burns Ford of Long Beach CA and McCoy & Mills Ford of Fullerton CA. This car was ordered new with; black paint stripe, black vinyl roof, C4 Cruise-O-Matic transmission, 6.95x14.4 ply rated tires, white sidewall tires, Selectaire air conditioner, AM radio, tinted glass, and wheel covers.

(from page 35 of the 1968 Collection) Another awesome shot of Luke's Dandelion Yellow 1968 Rainbow Of Colors Mustang hardtop. It has the 289-2V engine, black standard bucket seats, 2.79 rear end, and a C4 automatic transmission. It was built at the San Jose assembly plant (where all ROC cars were built) on February 23, 1968.

(from page 38 of the 1968 Collection) Under this black paint is Caribbean Coral paint. It's a 'Rainbow of Colors' Special edition 1968 Mustang. It's owned by Brandon Salisbury. Brandon is 16 and is planning to restore the car with his Father. The Marti report states that it is a Special Paint Coral, Ford #WT9012. It was built in San Jose (8R) on 3/8/68 and ordered through the Salt Lake City DSO (73) with special order# 3061. It was sold through Gooding Ford in Gooding, Idaho. This paint was also offered on the 'Color of the Month' special edition Mustangs. This Coral Mustang was built about a month too early to be considered a 'Color of the Month' special edition. The Coral paint was an April color. The special order number on this Mustang is close to 3059 which we know is part of the 'Rainbow of Colors' promotion. We believe most of the 'Color of the Month' cars came from the Metuchen New Jersey factory, and we have never found an advertisement for the 'Color of the Month' promotion from the Salt Lake City area.

(from page 38 of the 1968 Collection) Along the door jamb, you can see the Caribbean Coral paint.
