Four Saleen Mustang conversions were available for 2004. The S-281, converted from the GT, contained the Saleen body package and suspension system. The S-281 S/C model was a supercharged version of the base S-281. The S-281 Cobra was converted from higher trim level Cobras along with their supercharged engines. The final model was the S-281 E, which had a Saleen modified engine that put out the most horsepower at 445hp. The convertible came with a Speedster option, which included both a hard and soft tonneau cover over the rear seats and a sportbar (roll bar).
