In 2000, Saleen offered two models of the Mustang, both with smaller engines than the previous year's Saleen Cobra. The S-281 had a 285hp engine, while the S-281 S/C had a supercharged engine with 350hp. Both models came with Racecraft springs, Bilstein N2 shocks and struts, urethane swaybar bushings, strut tower brace, and 18-inch wheels of different widths for the front and rear. Some of the optional features were Alcon 13-inch brake rotors, twin gauge pod, sports bar and speedster package for the convertible, Recaro racing seats, 3.55 rear, and a carbon fiber hood.
