Body Styles (compare years, go back to 1992 summary information)
In 1992, Mustang fans could choose from three different body styles: coupe, hatchback, or convertible. They could also opt for the basic LX or the sportier GT package. The LX models now had body side and bumper moldings that matched the color of the car, just like the GT models. The rear bumper also had the word Mustang engraved on it, to emphasize the identity of the car. Two new colors were added: Bimini Blue and Calypso Green. A special edition "Feature" FX convertible was also available, with a striking combination of Vibrant Red exterior, white interior, and white top. Ford did not make many changes in 1992, as they were preparing for a major redesign in the next year.

Mustang GT
The 1992 GT shared the same outside looks at the 1991 Mustang GT with its solid grille with center ford emblem; 16 inch 5 spoke cast aluminum wheels; and aerodynamic front, side and rear skirt panels. Under the hood, the 1992 Mustang GT received the 205hp, 5.0L, High Output, V8 engine. The 1992 Mustang convertible GT was the first Mustang with a base model price over $20,000.

Limited Edition LX 5.0L Feature Car
There were 2193 Special Limited Edition "Feature" or "Summer Special" LX 5.0L convertibles produced in mid 1992. They were all painted Vibrant Red with a white interior and top combination. These cars had special rear decklid spoilers; color keyed side moldings, mirrors, door and window trim; and white wheels. The Superior Wheel Company in Kansas created these wheels for the Feature car by applying baked-on opal pearlescent paint over silver. The interior featured white leather seats with black piping, black carpet, an ebony dash, and a black Lori cloth headliner. The "Feature" option was an additional $850 over the base LX price. The VIN numbers of these cars were not sequential but started the same with 1FACP44E*NF (so far serial numbers we found are 156184 and 161282).
SSP Police Package
The Special Service Package (SSP) was a factory optioned Police Car. Ford offered this package on the Mustang from 1982 through 1993. It was built upon a LX 5.0L Notchback with either the 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The package added; front lower radiator air deflector, remote trunk lid release, engine oil cooler, reinforced front floor pans, aircraft style radiator and heater hose clamps, single key locking system, external oil cooler (automatic transmission), heater hose inlet restrictor, heavy duty front bucket seats, underhood sound absorber delete, full size spare tire, certified 0-160mph speedometer, P215/65R15 95V BSW all-season performance Goodyear Eagle GT tires, and 15x7" 10-hole cast aluminum wheels.
