Saleen Mustang
The 2002 Saleen continued to come in three flavors even though the Cobra model conversion was not available. A new "S-281 E" was released. The "E" stood for Extreme. The "E" model engine put out 425hp thanks to a Series V twin-screw supercharger, aluminum heads and pistons, and 2.5 inch exhausts. See our 2002 Saleen Data Explorer for more information.

Black 2002 Mustang Saleen S281-SC coupe owned by Gerardo Gallegos from Corpus Christi, Texas. It has a supercharged 281ci V8 engine with a manual transmission. Gerardo tells us, "I bought the car from my sister. She bought it with 40 miles on the clock and put in 11,000 miles on it in a 1.5 years. I bought it in December 2004 and had it ever since. It's all stock has the Mach 1000 stereo system upgraded wheels 18x10 in the rear upgraded rotors and Saleen calipers. I mainly use it for car shows, cruise nights, and on nice sunny days. I've only driven the car once in the rain, I was caught coming from a car show."

2002, Torch Red, , pillar/post
Torch Red 2002 Mustang Saleen S281-SC owned by Larry Perks. It has the 281ci V8 engine topped off with a SuperCharger. It also has a manual transmission, full leather interior with all the upgrades, Saleen 13" slotted front brakes, and Saleen fender badges. Larry tells us, "I bought the Saleen 2 years ago from a dealership with only 5,000 original miles on it with zero defects. The car had basically been stored and pampered in a controlled environment for 12 years. Over the past 2 years I have driven the car and put nearly 10,000 miles on it. I have made a few modifications to improve power and overall handling performance; new Continental DW tires, full length sub-frame connectors, BBK 75mm throttle body, BBK full length ceramic headers, BBK H-pipe, Steeda rear lower control arms, Steeda rear shock tower brace, ACT lightened flywheel, and Exedy stage 2 clutch."

Laser Red 2002 Mustang Saleen S-281 S/C speedster (#306) with the optional roll bar. Speedsters have a hard tonneau cover over the rear seats, giving it a tow-seater appearance.

Black 2002 Mustang Saleen S281 convertible with a 285hp (at 5100rpm), 4.6 liter (281ci), single overhead cam, V8 engine. This Saleen is serial number 586, as painted on the left front bumper.

Zinc Yellow 2002 Mustang Saleen S282-SC Super-Charged convertible with a black interior and black convertible top. The Saleen ID tag says it is serial number 02-0618 with a production date of 04-02. This one has the sport bar (roll bar) option.

This is an Oxford White 2002 Mustang Saleen S-281SC coupe serial number 225. The has the matching white painted Saleen wheels. The "SC" stands for SuperCharged. This Saleen has a supercharger under the hood.

Black 2002 Mustang Saleen S-281E Extreme coupe factory serial number 53. Saleen only converted 34 Mustangs to Extreme coupes in 202. This is one of them. Extreme comes from the fact that the engine puts out 425 horsepower which is 60 horsepower more than the standard Saleen S-281S/C supercharged version. The Extreme comes standard with the 13-inch Saleen brakes and upgraded wheel and tire package. Items exclusive to the Extreme include; louvered hood, S351 rear spoiler, and center exit exhaust.

2002, Beryllium Orange, , convertible
Beryllium 2002 Mustang Saleen S281-SC Supercharged convertible with a black interior. Beryllium was a Saleen special paint that could be ordered with their factory Mustang conversions. It was expensive because the entire car had to be stripped before painted.

This is a Black 2002 Mustang Saleen S281-E Extreme convertible with a black interior and black top. It's a Triple-Black 2002 Saleen Extreme! They only made 20 of these (Extreme convertibles) in 2002. This is factory serial number 39.
