Page 8 and 9 of the 1982 Ford Mustang promotional booklet shows an overview of the GL and L series option groups. Large in the bottom center is a Dark Blue metallic 2-door GL coupe with turbine wheel covers, behind it is a Bright Red 3-door GL hatchback with turbine wheel covers, and the upper left is a Dark Curry Brown metallic 2-door L coupe with styled steel wheels and trim rings. The GL has a fully reclining low-back bucket seat (upper left) and the L series comes with the standard fully reclining high-back bucket seat (top center). The new names assigned to the four option packages included the baselevel L, intermediate GL, luxury GLX, and the sporty GT.
