(from the 1968_00146_02 Collection) Rear left view of David's 1968 Shelby GT350 convertible in Candy Apple Red exterior paint. This photo really shows off the Shelby rear wing, sequential taillights, and roll bar. The roll bar for the fastback model had its seatbelts attached high on it. They were redesigned for the convertible as well as the whole rear end wing to better match the fastback.

(from the 1968_00022_01 Collection) This incredible Special Orange 1968 Shelby GT500KR Mustang fastback with an R-code 428 Cobra Jet V8 is owned by Peter Disher of Wisconsin and runs one of the most interesting sites of Ford factory special colors thecoralsnake.com. Peter has identified several 1968 special order colors that the Shelby GT 500KR has been ordered in. This orange WT5158 is one of them. Peter writes: One of three painted this color by the factory in 1968. SAAC and Team Shelby National Award winner.

(from the 1968_00235_01 Collection) This is one of 50 Wimbledon White Mustang GT Cobra Jet fastbacks factory built for racing at the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Winternationals in Los Angeles. VIN numbers range from 8F02R135007 to 8F02R135056 and the first batch of 18 where scheduled for assembly on December 30, 1967 with delete export brace, 428ci Cobra jet, GT option, steel wheels, aluminum intake, Wimbledon white, and no racing stripes. Gas Ronda, Jerry Harvey, Hubert Platt, Don Nicholson, Hubert Platt, and Al Joniec raced them for Ford at the 1968 NHRA Winternationals held February 2-4. This is Don Nicholson's car. An additional 32 cars where built and at least 8 went to dealerships to promote the event.

(from the 1968_00169_01 Collection) Gold 1968 Mustang Shelby GT-500 fastback with white rocker stripes. It has the big 428ci engine - characteristic of the GT-500. Those are Shelby custom 15-inch wheels that came with the 1968 Shelby.

(from the 1968_00059_01 Collection) Medium Blue 1968 Mustang Shelby GT-500KR fastback in its original paint and a restored 400hp, 428ci, 4 barrel, Ram Air, Cobra Jet, V8 engine. The GT-500 King of the Road was introduced midyear and used Mustang's Cobra Jet engine but modified by Shelby to put out 65 more horse power. This photo is available in two wallpaper sizes; 1024-768 wallpaper and 2048-1536 wallpaper.

It's dataplate says 63B for fastback body style, M for the Wimbledon White paint, 5AA for the black interior, 18U for the 18th of July, and U for the C-6 automatic transmission.
