(4 photos of a 1984 Silver SVO Mustang Hatchback) The Ford Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) group was started on the 1980 Mustangs to to help interested race car drivers build up competition versions of the Mustang, create a kits of bolt-on parts that could be purchased by average Mustang owners to modify their street cars, and create a series of specialty GT racing cars. This was the first car to do the later. This car came with an air-to-air intercooled, turbocharged, 175hp (at 4400rpm), 2.3 liter, electronic fuel injected, inline 4-cylinder.

This car has all options for the year including A/C, tilt wheel, cruise control, etc. This is factory paint but pretty rough. Its getting painted back black again soon."

Aaron tells us more, "This SVO was sitting for 18 years and passed down to me at the age of 18. I did a complete restoration. It was given to me with
the V8 because the 2.3L Turbo had many problems. The rear end is rebuilt being a 8.8 inch with 3.73 gearing. The wheels are also stock."

The special model commemorated the Mustang's 20th anniversary and only came in Oxford White. No-one at Ford got Shelby's permission to use the "GT350" name. Shelby was working at the time with the inventor of the Mustang, Lee Iacocca at Chrysler, sued Ford for this infringement. This car has 1991+ five spoke wheels.

This Mustang has the largest of 6 engines offered in 1984, a 175hp (at 4000rpm), 302 cubic inch (5.0 liter), 4 barrel, high output V8 engine. There is one (about 3 inches) paint chip on the right passenger door.

The body will be painted 2010 Cadillac Black Cherry with the frame in dark metal flake gray. Chuck tells us more, "It is being turned into a street strip terror. Power comes from two 63mm T3/4 turbos on a well prepped 1990 stock bore 302. Aiding the induction is a C/S Carb blow thru setup. Mallory and Accecel supply the fire. Handling the teeth jarring shifts is a Performance automatic with hardened shafts plus a Trans brake. Coupling the power is a Continental 4,500 rpm stall. This is all held in place with front and mid engine plates. The full channel frame keeps things from twisting to the 4-link narrowed 9 inch coil over rear end. Tube K-member, steering, and front coil overs keep her light on the front end. When it comes to stopping, disc all the way around by Strange Bros. To keep me safe, a 10-point chrome molly cage is in place. Aero motive A1000 and a Holly Blue supply the GO juice." Chuck also owns a 1988 Mustang LX 5.0L convertible and his wife has a
1964 Mustang hardtop.

Bought this out of Gardner Kansas as a complete restoration. Currently a show car queen." Tom Soloman created these and they were sold at Ford dealers from 1983 through 1986. Some of the unique features included; Cobra air cleaner, Monte Carlo bar, roll cage, wood shifter knob, Shelby 8 spoke wheels with spinners, SVO suspension, hood scoop, hood pins, and GT302 or GT302R graphics.
