(8 photos of a 1977 Black Mustang Cobra II Hatchback) Black 1977 Mustang II with Cobra II package, owned by Mike Baker, from Elgin, Illinois. He just purchased it off eBay! It has a 302ci V8 engine and an automatic transmission. Like in 1976, the 1977 Cobra came in white with blue stripes, blue with white stripes, or black with gold stripes. New in 1977 the Cobra could come with white with red stripes and white with green stripes. This is an early 1977 Cobra where the lettering is low on the door, later in the year they were higher up. Cobras came with vertical-style quarter-window louvers, rear-window horizontal louvers, sport mirrors, facing hood scoop and rear spoiler.

Purchased 14 months ago for $1800, this 100% rust free base option V8 automatic was just screaming to be customized. Like all my cars, I did all the body modifications and striping myself. Turning it into a Cobra clone was easy thanks to Mustangs Unlimited Mustang II parts. Searches on E Bay have also helped me to add a 600cfm Holley, dual plane manifold and almost new Black Jack headers for the near stock 302. The car has received several trophies in both Mustang classes and Street Car at local shows and is the only registered Mustang II fastback in Las
Vegas at this time. Barry also modified a
2005 Mustang V6.

The T-Top was only available on the hatchback model. The ad appeals to those who missed the convertible body style. It says,

When we drove up he said, 'There it is.' I said, 'Where?' He said, 'There.' I saw the car and I said, 'No, that is not a Mustang. That is a POS! Where is the pony?' He said, 'On the front
and the back.' I looked and said, 'Oh, Mustang II.' It is all original."
(2 photos of a 1977 White Mustang Cobra II Hatchback) White 1977 Mustang Cobra II hatchback was a $535 options package in 1977 which came with stripes, Cobra lettering, vertical rear quarter window louvers, dual sport mirrors, rear opening hood scoop, BR70 or 195/R70 x 13 RWL tires, and brushed aluminum door trim inserts. This combination of white with blue stripes was also available in 1976 but new to 1977 was white with red and white with green stripes.

This was the first year for the twin-panel T-roof option which was only available on the hatchback models. All 1977 models with the T-roof had a wide black band that ran across the roof except for the Cobra II which was color-keyed with the body color.

"My uncle bought this Mach I new in 1977. I bought it from him in 1985-86. I was T-boned in the drivers door in 1989 and it spent the next 25 years in my Father's barn. Apparently, my Father has been working on the restoration for a while now and surprised me with these photos for Christmas 2014. It is all factory original colors, etc. The only modification was the addition of a tape deck back in the 80s. The only thing I am going to do to it is add some white letter tires. I hope to get home to drive it soon."

This is not an original Cobra color combination. Black Cobras only came with gold stripes. Other color factory combinations included: white with blue, green, or red stripes; and blue with white stripes. In 1978 more colors were offered on the Cobra.
