"Aunt Myrna, if you ever want to sell your Mustang, let us know." This is what Allan and Nancy Eisentraut told their aunt Myrna of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. Myrna bought the car new in 1966, drove it for years, then stored it in her garage for 16 years, untouched. Finally, one day in 1986, Allan and Nancy, got a call from Myrna. She wanted to sell them the car. Allan went there with his mechanic son. They pulled the Mustang out of the garage with the tires sliding on the ground. They were froze up with rust. After pounding the rust off the wheels to get them to turn; then taking the spark plugs out, pouring oil into the spark plug holes; and pouring gas into the carburetor, the Mustang started up - surprisingly, even with the old battery. It was quite rusty and a body man told them not to wait too long to have it taken car of. Within a year, the car had been repainted. Everything is still original on the car, right down to the plaid carpet in the trunk. This was our featured

Attitude Of The Week photo for the week starting November 30, 2008. Steve just completed the restoration. He repainted it with the original color. It has it's original 6-cylinder engine under the hood. Steve adds,
"I bought the car in July, 2008. It has 38,000 original miles. It has no power options. It is a nice California car that is in excellent stock condition."

Ivy Green 1966 Mustang GT T-5 convertible that was once owned by Emmanuel Theux from Monte-Carlo. T-5 was the Mustang model sold in Germany, because the model name of "Mustang" could not be used because a trunk company had registered it first in Germany. Not sure how many people would confuse a Mustang truck with the Mustang car. This one has a K-code HiPo 289ci V8 engine. Emmanuel sold it to a private museum in Switzerland.
Emmanuel has owned many Mustangs.

Emmanuel Theux sends us this photo of a Wimbledon White 1966 Shelby GT-350. This was taken at a car show in Paris, France. This one wears a set of 1965 Shelby wheels. Check out all the over vintage Mustangs in the background.

Manville Smith just purchased this Wimbledon White 1966 Mustang convertible (April 20th, 2009) with only 40K on the odometer. This is our featured
Attitude Of The Week for the week starting 5-24-09. Manville tells us more,
"It is very original and highly optioned. The paint is original and the body/frame is straight and rust-free. The car was originally a Ford company car ('Transportation Services' DSO) and it still has the Ford Employee parking decal on the rear window. Original items include the C-code 289 V8, C4 automatic transmission, power steering, front disc brakes (rare on a non-GT), 2-speed wipers, luggage rack, 'Visibility Group' (remote controlled door mirror, day/night mirror), power convertible top, styled steel wheels, Ivy Gold and White Pony interior (all original) with console, AM Radio (works perfectly), wheel arch moldings, and rocker panel moldings. Non-original items are the air conditioning and the dual exhaust."

Attitude Of The Week for June 7th, 2009. They say they bought the car in the spring of 2008, it has been repainted but most of the interior and chrome is original, and all the numbers match.

This 1966 Mustang convertible was special ordered with Sapphire Blue paint. This paint was not a standard color for the mustang but it was for the 1966 Shelby. This car also has the GT equipment group option.

This is a real Wimbledon White 1966 Shelby GT-350 fastback. It is a "carry-over" car. The first 252 Shelby GT-350s for 1966 had 1965 Mustang bodies and 1965 Mustang serial number plates under their Shelby serial number plates. These "carry-over" cars had mostly 1965 features including standard Koni shocks and their engines where painted black instead of blue.

Check out this 1966 Mustang magazine ad. It features a Candy Apple Red 1966 Mustang hardtop passing a green traffic light. It starts off with,
"Okay, you can stop asking, 'Why doesn't Mustang bolt Cruise-O-Matic behind the 271 solid-lifter V8?" It talks about the new option of an automatic with the High Performance 271ci V8 engine.

Attitude Of The Week for 9/16/2007. The GT package was very popular in 1966 because the option sold for $152.20 and included the high-performance 271hp (at 6000rpm), 289 cubic inch, V8 engine; dual exhaust; fog lamps; special ornamentation; disc brakes; GT racing stripes and handling package components. This Mustang shows off its Red Band nylon tires which was a option for $48.89, and styled steel wheels for $93.84. This photo is available in two wallpaper sizes;

1024-768 wallpaper.
