Under hood is the big 5.0l (302ci) V8 engine. This engine put out 134 horsepower and was the biggest of three engines offered on the 1976 Mustang II model.

4 of 5 mustang attitude4 of 5 mustang attitude4 of 5 mustang attitude4 of 5 mustang attitude4 of 5 mustang attitude (from page 6 of the 1976 Collection) Black 1976 Mustang II Ghia (with Stallion option) owned by Mark Williford from Beaumont, Texas. It has its original 5.0L 302 V8 and an automatic transmission. Mark adds, "This show car Mustang II Ghia was Lee Iacocco's comeback car that transitioned the Mustang back from the Muscle Mach 1s to the classic compact sports car of today's Mustangs.

Although repainted from its original Silver Metallic, the vehicle has a mirror gloss black paint that allows the trim chrome molding to accent the custom chrome rims. The vinyl landau Italian styled covering is in excellent condition with no fading, rips or tears and fits like a glove over the roof. Chrome trim lines accent and highlight iconic 70s opera windows.

Hand painted precision cranberry pin stripes compliment the interior and contrast nicely with the car's paint. This Ghia sports the Stallion Group Package features a rare Ford Mustang hood ornament in place of the grilled galloping pony. (grille has mounting bracket for the Pony).

Excellent cranberry interior with front bucket seats, headrest and rear seating are in excellent condition. The seating has no rips, tears or seat fading. Excellent dash with no rips, tears or fading sport the dial tach and speedometer. Classic digital flip clock does not work. Radio works and has the old school look that brings back great memories of the Bee Gees and George Jones. Baked steering wheel has slight fracture within hand control portion of wheel. This aesthetic defect does not impair or affect the steering mechanism. Steering is tight and straight with excellent power steering. Oversized custom chrome rims and wheels will rub inside fenders on tight turns and does make tight turns a challenge.

Car has working sunroof with classic working chrome hand crank and slide covering. Original owners manual and original 13 inch steel rim spare with white wall tire looks brand new. AC blows cold as was modified to accept new refrigerant. Engine runs solid with radiator showing minor signs of rust near top.

Car has solid automatic transmission, brakes, and power steering with 90% of all hoses replaced with recently replaced the thermostat. I have experienced the AC fuse blowing (was incorrect amp) but no problem after correcting.

Although this classic Detroit built 302 CID 5.OL V8 is a gas guzzler getting about 15 MPG, it's a solid powerful engine with a small head gasket oil leak developing. I purchased this vehicle from a successful Dentist who purchased it from the original owner. The paint, interior and AC work was done a great expense by the former owner (Dentist).

By adding 13 inch steel rims and original hubcaps and white walls and an air intake snorkel, it could easily transition into an excellent show car. Has potential to make a great muscle car with the right modifications. Contact me for transition of title as Texas requires signatures. I can assist in coordinating a delivery service. All shipping fees are responsibility of buyer. The manufacturer's sticker shows the car was manufactured in Dearborn, MI and is an original hard top Ghia. My Research shows only 37,515 of Iacocca's and Hal Sperlich's inspired (who played a major role in the original Mustang) Ghia's were manufactured."

(from page 10 of the 1976 Collection) The first two inside pages of the 1976 US Ford European brochure shows the Mustang II Ghia coupe. The text reads: Mustang II Ghia Sporty performance with super-luxury. The Ghia is the car for the man who wants everything the Mustang II can offer - plus the ultimate in luxury. Let's take a look. Right at the top is the super smart vinyl roof. Then there are the new opera windows neatly set into the rear side of the passenger cabin. Dual pin stripes with colour-keyed vinyl insert body mouldings accentuate the, low rakish look. There are twin, streamlike-shaped wing mirror. The deluxe Ghia spoke-style wheel covers and Ghia badging add another quality distinctive touch. Looks like these you can take anywhere - in the certain knowledge that you're going to collect some pretty envious looks along the way. And with looks like these on the outside, you'd imagine the inside would have a lot going for it too. You'd be right. Slip into the super-luxurious seating and admire the deluxe seat trim. You can pick Westminster cloth or Super-soft vinyl. The choice is yours. Note the deluxe door and quarter trim. Seat belts, of course. And rest your feet on the sumptuous cut-pile carpeting. It's colour-keyed to the rest of the interior trim and the quality wouldn't shame a playboy penthouse suite. There's a centre console that houses an ashtray for the rear seat passengers. There are door courtesy lights. And for lovers of the quiet life, you'll find the sound-proofing inside the Mustang II Ghia is about as good as that of a recording studio. Pretty special. Even more special, though is the Silver/Cranberry specialty Ghia. The new shimmer-shine Silver Metallic finish puts you ahead of the herd, without shouting about it. The Cranberry bodyside tape stripes and special Silver moulding and the unique stand-up bonnet ornament add their own quietly stylish touches. And the Silver Normande grain half-vinyl roof caps the lot with effortless elegance. Inside, it's the same story. Lavish luxury. The whole of the beautifully tailored interior is delicately colour-keyed in Cranberry tones. The seat trim is Media velour - so comfortable it's almost sinful. And there's a useful centre console conveniently placed between the front seats. In short, for a small-size car, the Mustang Ghia is far and away the biggest thing in luxury on the road.

It still as the original 302ci engine under the hood. The owner has this story to share, "Growing up, my Dad had always wanted to purchase a Mustang. He had taken early retirement at 60 years old and seriously started looking at a Mustang as his next car of choice. He looked at many but the little red Mustang II caught his eye and he convinced my Mom that the little red girl was the one. He couldn't wait to call me and tell me that he had purchased it. Dad came over to my apartment, picked me up and took me over to the house to see her. My Dad loved his new car but didn't have an opportunity to drive it for very long as he had a stroke and couldn't drive any more. When ever he had to go to the doctor, I made sure to take him in his red jewel. Although he couldn't drive he would have an opportunity to be in it. He never regained his health and before he passed away he signed his very special car to me. I drove my Dad's car every day to work until three years ago until she was hurting for a lot more TLC than I could continue to give her. My husband promised to restore her for me and I must admit that I wasn't totally convinced that he would do it as it was a large undertaking. I only expected for him to get the car running again, but as you can see he has gone far beyond that and restored her back to original condition. The car I loved driving for many years that held tremendous amount of sentimental value for me, is back on the road again and looking and running pretty sweet. I'm sure my Dad would have been pretty proud of how she looks."
