They were all Grabber Orange Mach-1 Mustangs. Only 96 units were produced. There is a tornado Twister graphic on the rear fenders.

We are looking into the references (Mustang 1964 1/2-1968 by Tom Corcoran, page 96) of a 1967 Twister Special Mustang offered in the Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana area. I was driving through Bellevue, Washington and couldn't believe what I saw for sale at a local car dealer. So I went right home to get my camera, and it was our Attitude Of The Week for the week starting August 7th, 2011.


(4 photos of a 1985 Bright Red Mustang GT Twister Hatchback) This is a redone 1985 Twister II Special GT Mustang in Bright Red or Jalapena Red with aftermarket 17 inch Cobra wheels and aftermarket hood. The 1985 Twister Special Mustang sported black side stripes and Twister II lettering as well as a black striped hood without a hood scoop. The Twister was only offered in the Kansas area and could be ordered with on any GT (convertible or hatchback) with any GT options. The Twister was first offered in 1970 but only came on the Mach 1 in Grabber orange, and in 2008 as an aftermarket Grabber Orange GT upgrade; but both in the Kansas area only.


(5 photos of a 1985 Oxford White Mustang GT Twister Hatchback) Here is a GMP 1:18th scale diecast model of an Oxford White 1985 Twister II Mustang GT. These diecasts came in Jalapena Red or Oxford White with a wide flat black hood, large Twister II side stripes, and a 5.0 liter V8 engine.

It was sold at the 2005 Barrett Jackson Auction held in Scottsdale, Arizona for $10,450. It has the 302ci V8 engine, 5-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, power windows, and power door locks. Only 90 Twister IIs were built in 1985. 14 of them were convertibles! This one does not have the GT black striped hood or 5.0L emblems on the front fenders. The car is unrestored and original.

The Twister originally touched down in Kansas in 1970, then again in 1985, and now in 2008 but only in Kansas and only in Grabber Orange and only by R&A Motorsports. This special model GT has Foose 20 x 8.5 inch Wheel with "Twister Special" center caps, Pirelli Tires, lower ground effects blacked out, chin spoiler, widows peak shaker hood with stripe, functional shaker air intake with engraved "Twister Special" in scoop, centered headlight grille with the older tri-bar pony emblem, custom tail light panel, duck tail spoiler, embroidered "Twister Special" headrest covers. embroidered "Twister Special" floor mats, Ford Racing exhaust, hood struts, Glassback roof, C-pillar (rear quarter window) scoops, and a dash mounted vehicle identification plate. Click your heals together while saying, "I want to go home" three times to get to Kansas to purchase one.
