(from page 3 of the 1996 Collection) Saleen modified the 1996 Mustang X-code engine. It puts out 220hp (at 4400rpm), 4.6 liter (281ci). Like the Mustang it is a single overhead cam, V8 engine.

It has a forged Cobra crank, forged H-beam rods, forged aluminum pistons, Cobra billet oil pump, Fox Lake Stage 3 2003 Cobra heads and cams, ported upper and and lower 2001 Cobra intake, 60 lbs injectors, dual SVT Focus pumps, stainless braided fuel lines, CPR fuel rails, Vortech S-trim supercharger (3.33 pulley) with custom one piece aftercooler, upgraded Lightning Fluidyne heat exchanger, upgraded SVT water pump,and a Vortech Maxflow bypass valve. You can see the supercharger up front just left of the radiator tank.
