(2 photos of a 1968 Wimbledon White Mustang GT NHRA Cobra Jet Fastback) This is one of 50 Wimbledon White Mustang GT Cobra Jet fastbacks factory built for racing at the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Winternationals in Los Angeles. VIN numbers range from 8F02R135007 to 8F02R135056 and the first batch of 18 where scheduled for assembly on December 30, 1967 with delete export brace, 428ci Cobra jet, GT option, steel wheels, aluminum intake, Wimbledon white, and no racing stripes. Gas Ronda, Jerry Harvey, Hubert Platt, Don Nicholson, Hubert Platt, and Al Joniec raced them for Ford at the 1968 NHRA Winternationals held February 2-4. This is Don Nicholson's car. An additional 32 cars where built and at least 8 went to dealerships to promote the event.

Jeff of Orange County, California sends us these photos of his Mustang which is our Attitude Of The Week starting February 2nd, 2019. Jeff tells us more: Purchased from second owner 10 miles from original dealership where car was sold new in Southern California. Car had sat for the last 30 years in garage partially disassembled. Went through a complete restoration including being stripped to bare metal and painted in the original Gold Glow factory color. Car is all original and has 84,000 original miles. Many factory options including Decor Group, body tape stripes, Magnum 500 wheels, Air Conditioning, AM/FM stereo and more. Complete matching numbers drive train and this is the Q code Cobra Jet. 1 of only 330 produced with engine and transmission combo...very rare.


(5 photos of a 2008 Performance White Mustang Cobra Jet Coupe) 50 of these Ford Racing, track-only, 5.4L V8, Cobra Jet cars were built to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Ford winning NHRA internationals with a 1968 Cobra Jet Mustang. The options package includes the 5.4L V8 with racing upgrades and optional supercharger, racing transmission, racing wheels and tires, racing suspension and handling, roll bars, all welded body seams, and tons more available from Ford Racing. The Cobra Jet is limited to 50 cars and are all white.

The limited run of 50 cars that follow are all white and manufactured on the same production line that produces the 2010 Ford Mustang production car. Building on the track-only 2008 Mustang Cobra Jet, the 2010 version has new graphics, a choice between several 5.4L supercharged or normally aspirated V8 engines, adjustable front and rear shocks, manual steering and brakes, roll cage, competition shifter, Hoosier drag radials, Weld wheels, and a rear mounted battery with cut-off switch.

But, the car has never been raced. It has all the go fast goodies; 5.4l DOHC with 2.3L TVS supercharger, 3-speed C4 Auto Race transmission, 9" rear axle with 4.29:1 ratio, a NHRA certified roll cage, and the NHRA Stock Eliminator legal interior. Ford calls this the quickest accelerating production vehicle ever made. The car will execute a 60-foot launch in 1.3 seconds and the quarter-mile in under 10 seconds. Wow!!!
