(10 photos of a 1974 Medium Copper Mach 1 Mustang Hatchback) This Medium Copper (Chestnut) 1974 Mach 1 is owned by Bobby Aldrich and is our Attitude of the Week starting August 28, 2017. Bobby writes, I bought my 1974 Mustang Mach1 project car from Arnold Marks at Mustangs Etc. in Van Nuys, CA. in July of 2015. The car had been sitting with 152K and a broken off crank pulley bolt since 1986. I had the car shipped to me after seeing a few pictures of it. I love the original cooper color with tan interior. I like my cars some what stock looking. I found the engine was not original to the car and with all of the parts that were missing, I decided to added and delete options to make the car the way I would have ordered it in 1974. It had a 2.8L V6, C/4, A/C, P/S, PB and a 6 3/4" rear end with 3:55 gears. The options I chose were a 2.3L that gave you a $ 229 credit when ordered on the Mach 1. A 4 speed, PB, No A/C or P/S, a 8" rear end with 3:00 gears. Ford didn't offer 3:00 in 74 I just had to have the freeway gears, console, clock, deluxe door panels, rear sway bar and a AM FM 8 track stereo. I also added aftermarket rear window louvers. I've done all of the work on the car myself and made all of the changes the way they would have been done at the factory, I used all of the correct parts including wire harnesses. I used NOS and reproduction parts when I could find them and reconditioned used parts when I had to. 1974 Mustangs are even rare among Mustang II's in 2016. I have found the 1974's have many unique one year only parts. I will use the car for weekend driving and car shows along with my
four other Mustang II's.

(8 photos of a 1974 Mach 1 Paper Car Mustang Promotional Sales Brochure) Here is the cardboard cut-out at full size. Print this on heavy paper or attach it to heavier paper before cutting it out. Save the image to your harddrive or click here to remove all the borders for printing. The original card was designed to snap out the car along perforations, you'll have to use a scissors. Its a little hard to tell, but the only white tab on the left and right side of the car is on the bottom (make sure you cut out the inside the the wheels next to this tab so that when the tab is folded, the wheels don't fold with it). Tab C is attached to the hood, Tab B is attached to the front window, and Tab A is connected to the rear window/hatch not the side windows. Cut along the inside of each of the tires to separate them from the bottom tab which is folded back. Also make sure you cut far enough up the side of the rear window, along the roof, to allow the rear window to fit properly. The bottom side of the front license plate also needs to be cut out. Pre-bend along each dotted line before gluing. Refer to Figure 1 shown in the top right. Glue the car together in stages, allowing the glue to dry between. We also have a

The standard hatchback has sport wheels, rear bumper guards, and is in Medium Copper metallic exterior paint. The Mach 1 also has sport wheels and bumper guards but also has grille mounted fog lamps, body side molding, and black lower body paint with Bright Red on top. So little changed in the body styling between 1974 and 1975 that the same photos shown here where used in the 1974 Ford Mustang promotional booklet.
(11 photos of a 1976 Blue Mustang Cobra II Hatchback) Our first Attitude Of The Week for the new year and our 8000th Mustang photo on this site was this blue 1976 Cobra II Mustang owned by John of Median, Ohio. John writes: I bought my car brand new off the showroom floor in 1976. Originally it was white with blue stripes. My wife and I met because of this car. When I met her back in 1979, she had a black/gold Cobra II. I ended up keeping my Cobra all these years. Glad I did. The motor is a 302 rollerized crate motor, with a Weiand 177 supercharger, GT-40 Ford racing aluminum heads, 4150 series Holley supercharger carburetor, MSD distributor, Mallory ignition, Summit Racing noisy gears, Cobrajos chrome valve covers, TCI streetfighter tranny, and Be Cool crossflow aluminum radiator. All the mods to the engine were done within the last couple years. It must of been a mid life crisis that made me spend the money. ha ha. I should of done it years ago. It's a fun car to drive.
