(from page 40 of the 1967 Collection) This is a rare one. It's a 1967 Mustang Shelby GT-500 hardtop! It was the first and only one built by Shelby - called "Little Red". Although more 1967 hardtops where built by Shelby, it was the inspiration for the 1968 California Special. This GT-500 had twin Paxton Superchargers on a 428ci engine. It is reported to have been crushed as most prototypes were.

(from page 40 of the 1967 Collection) This 1967 Shelby GT-500 hardtop even has a black vinyl top. Vinyl tops where hugely popular in the 60s and 70s.

(from page 68 of the 1968 Collection) This is a dual prototype! It was originally the 1968 California Special hardtop prototype. Then it was sent to Shelby to become the 1968 GT-500 hardtop prototype. It is known as the "Green Hornet" and is still around today! The rocker stripes say EXP 500. As "Experimental".

(from page 1 of the 1969 Collection) Jorge Espino owns this Viper Red 1969 Shelby (probably a clone) hardtop project car. It does not have a transmission or engine. The decals inside say 428. 428ci engines were put into Shelby GT-500s. Jorge says that it would make a nice GT-500 or GT-350.

(from page 1 of the 1969 Collection) Another shot of Jorge's Viper Red 1969 Shelby (clone) hardtop project car.

(from page 1 of the 1969 Collection) Here is a close-up of the right front fender.

(from page 1 of the 1969 Collection) A shot the dash. It has an automatic transmission and an aftermarket radio. A Shelby steering wheel would have a Shelby Snake in the center, but this steering wheel looks red.

(from page 1 of the 1969 Collection) This is the right dash emblem for a 1969 Shelby GT-350.
