(from page 7 of the 1965 Collection) Under the hood is a 289ci V8 engine. It has chrome valve covers and a chrome air cleaner lid.

(from page 9 of the 1965 Collection) The base engine for 1965 a T-code 120hp(at 4400rpm), 200 cubic inch, in-line 6-cylinder.

(from page 15 of the 1965 Collection) The engine is a tweaked Mustang K-code 289ci 4-barrel V8. This Shelby version put out 306 horsepower over the 271 horsepower Mustang version. Shelby engine modifications included: 715 cfm Holley carburetor, Cobra aluminum high-rise intake manifold, Cobra finned aluminum valve covers with matching oil pan, Tri-Y exhaust headers, and low-restriction mufflers. The Shelby special Vehicle Identification Number VIN is located on a aluminum plate riveted over the original Mustang VIN number. See it over the driver's side fender?

(from page 17 of the 1965 Collection) The original Mustang 1965, 289ci V8 engine has been modified with K-code heads, K-code exhaust manifolds, K-code fan shroud, Pertronix pointless ignition, dual exhaust through rear valence, 4 row radiator, and chrome valve covers off of a 1965 GT.

(from page 36 of the 1965 Collection) It has a nice looking engine compartment.

(from page 37 of the 1965 Collection) There were three 289ci V8's available for the Mustang in 1965, a C-code 2-barrel, A-code 4-barrel, and a K-code high performance 4-barrel. The horsepower ratings were 200, 225, and 271hp respectively. This is either the C or A code version since there no "high performance" written under the 289 on the red/orange air filter sticker (it says "Cubic Inch" on this one).

(from page 38 of the 1965 Collection) View of the customized V8 engine and engine compartment which has some interesting bracing, chrome accents, all on a painted Tropical Turquoise background.

(from page 38 of the 1965 Collection) The customized 289 cubic inch V8 engine has lots of chrome on it.

(from page 39 of the 1965 Collection) View of the 1965, Ford, Mustang, A-code, 289 cubic inch, 4 valve, V8 engine with a bit of chrome added along with an extra brace.

(from page 39 of the 1965 Collection) View of the customized 289ci V8 engine. It seems to have some extra cooling lines, a air filter sensor, and other unique items.
