Shelby engine modifications included: 715 cfm Holley carburetor, Cobra aluminum high-rise intake manifold, Cobra finned aluminum valve covers with matching oil pan, Tri-Y exhaust headers, and low-restriction mufflers. The Shelby special Vehicle Identification Number VIN is located on a aluminum plate riveted over the original Mustang VIN number. See it over the driver's side fender?

There were three 289ci V8's available for the Mustang in 1965, a C-code 2-barrel, A-code 4-barrel, and a K-code high performance 4-barrel. The horsepower ratings were 200, 225, and 271hp respectively. This is either the C or A code version since there no "high performance" written under the 289 on the red/orange air filter sticker (it says "Cubic Inch" on this one).
