Options include; Selectaire air conditioning, Mach-1 sports interior group, power steering, power front disc brakes, AM/FM Stereo, console, Deluxe seat belts and warning light, factory tinted windows, color-keyed spoiler and front bumper, color-keyed racing mirrors, NASA/NACA style hood scoops, grille sport lamps, competition suspension, trim rings with hub caps, and steel guard rails.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) Grabber Blue 1971 Mustang Mach-1 fastback, right side view. The silver Mach-1 stripes blend in with the Grabber Blue paint.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) Grabber Blue 1971 Mustang Mach-1 fastback, front end view. The space program was all the rage in the early 1970s. These hood scoops were designed to look like the scoops on the NASA space craft which used the NACA (National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics) duct design. Mainly that triangular indentation forward of the hood opening.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) This is an early M-code 280hp 351ci 4V V8 engine. These engines were available in Mustangs produced before May 1971. This car was built April 21, 1971.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) The interior is white and black.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) Here is a detailed photo of the dash. There are three gauges in front of the driver. One, being the clock! Three other gauges are in the center of the dash.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) Bright Silver Blue 1971 T5 Mach-1 fastback with silver stripes and silver rocker panels. The T-5 was exported to Germany because the Mustang could not. T5 was the project name of the original mustang prototype. To export to Germany, new T5 fender emblems were added and any Mustang wording was removed.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) Here is a close-up of the T-5 emblem. Bright Silver Blue is also a 1972 color.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) The drive train consists of a 351ci 285hp 4V V8 engine, C-6 automatic transmission, and a 3.00 Traction Lok rear end.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) The interior is black.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) Orange 1971 Mustang fastback with black Mach-1 stripes and a black interior. This car wasn't born a Mach-1 but sure looks nice decked out like one. Ford should have offered this shade of orange on all Mustang years.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) This car originally came with a 351ci 2-barrel. It has been upgraded to a 4-barrel. It has power steering and power brakes.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) It has it's original deluxe black interior.

(from page 13 of the 1971 Collection) This dataplate (or ID tag) is located on the rear edge of the drivers side door. It contains information about the car as it left the factory. It's important to keep this decal during the restoration of the car. I've seen reproduction tags - which worry me. I'd rather see the original tag. This one has a V paint code for Light Pewter. Orange wasn't even available on the 1971 Mustang.
