The hood pins assure that the lid stays down when the big 428ci Police Interceptor V8 with dual 4-barrel carburetors is running!

Looks the same as the other side - less the side rear view mirror. Those were options on older cars. Every new car now has mirrors on both doors. That is a fiberglass hood. Shelbys came standard with fiberglass hoods.

(from page 22 of the 1967 Collection) Here is a close-up of the "Shelby G. T. 500" emblem on the rear panel. Looks the same as the one on the front grille.
(from page 22 of the 1967 Collection) Heck, even the gas cap has the Shelby GT-500 emblem. On this old 1967 Shelbys, this is a real gas cap!
(from page 22 of the 1967 Collection) The GT-500 came with this huge 428ci dual carb V8 engine. The VIN plate for a 1967 Shelby is on the driver's side inner fender. You can just make out half of it on the lower edge of the picture - just to the left of center. The next photo has a close-up of the VIN plate.
Has viewer comments (from page 22 of the 1967 Collection) Here is a close-up of that VIN plate located on the inner edge of the driver's side front fender - under the hood. That "4" after the "67" stands for the 428ci engine.
(from page 22 of the 1967 Collection) The interior is black. There is a Shelby GT500 emblem on the dash way over on the passenger sie. And another in the center of the steering wheel. You want to make sure you know you are in a Shelby when driving!
(from page 22 of the 1967 Collection) Check out this awesome close-up of the 140mph speedometer! It has a trip odometer!
(from page 22 of the 1967 Collection) Check out the close-up of Mustang's optional 8000rpm tach! It has a 6000rpm redline.
(from page 22 of the 1967 Collection) Above is the AM radio and below is the Steward-Warner oil pressure (right) and alternator ammeter (left).

4.6 of 5 mustang attitude4.6 of 5 mustang attitude4.6 of 5 mustang attitude4.6 of 5 mustang attitude4.6 of 5 mustang attitude (from page 39 of the 1967 Collection) This is a one-off Wimbledon White 1967 Mustang Shelby GT-500 Super Snake prototype car. It was built by Shelby with the intentions of building more. But... it would be too expensive (2x that of the normal Shelby, and more than the 427 Cobra) for the public to purchase, so they only built one. This Shelby was placed on eBay back in 2008 for $3M, but did not sell. It did, however, sell in 2013 for $1.3M at a Mecum auction. (Photos are from Mecum). Why was it built? Many reasons. The GT500 was outselling the GT350 and Goodyear wanted a high speed event to advertise its new Thunderbolt tires. The engine was a 600hp 427ci from the GT40. The fog lights have special chrome surrounds and the blue LeMans stripes are unique.

As the story goes, this car ran 500 miles at an average speed of 142mph on Thunderbolt tires in the initial advertising campaign event.
(from page 39 of the 1967 Collection) That is a special built 427ci Mk II engine from a GT40. Other modifications include external oil cooler, braided lines, remote oil filter, stiffer springs and shocks on the passenger side (for the oval track event), special rear axle, special transmission, and special exhaust system.
(from page 40 of the 1967 Collection) Check out the interior.

(from page 3 of the 2020 Collection) This Oxford White Shelby Mustang GT500 has the optional Carbon Fiber Track Pack which includes: 20 inch rear exposed carbon fiber wheels, 305/30R20 front and 315/30R20 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer-only tires, adjustable strut top mounts, Recaro sport 4-way manually adjustable driver and 2-way manually adjustable front-passenger seats in Ebony leather trim, exposed carbon fiber instrument panel, rear seat delete, exposed carbon fiber GT4 track wing, splitter wickers, and wheel locks.
(from page 3 of the 2020 Collection) This view shows off the exposed carbon fiber GT4 track wing of the Carbon Fiber Track Pack.
