(from page 2 of the 1964 Collection) The original 289 engine has been replaced with this 302ci engine. It has been modified with a mild performance cam, long tube headers, Holley Dominator aluminum manifold, Holley carburetor with vacuum secondary and electric choke, and an MSD electronic ignition.

(from page 3 of the 1964 Collection) This is one of the first 100 production Mustangs built in the San Jose plant! The door data tag says it was scheduled for build on July 13th 1964 and the serial build number in the VIN is less than 100. Mary Combs of Centralia Washington owns this beautifully restored Prairie Bronze 1964 Mustang convertible with a 289ci V8 under the hood. It was in terrible condition when Mary got the car in 2005. See the last set of photos for some of the restoration which used all original parts. We photographed Mary's car at the 2010 MCA Grand Nationals held in Bellevue, Washington.

(from page 3 of the 1964 Collection) Mary sent us this photo of the hood down. Wow, now that's a good looking car.

(from page 3 of the 1964 Collection) Later in the day the top was up on Mary's Prairie Bronze 1964 Mustang convertible.

(from page 3 of the 1964 Collection) The inside sports a nice full center column, automatic transmission shifter, AM radio and Palomino vinyl with palomino trim (trim code 89). The door data tag on this car reads 76A P 89 13G 72 1 6 (convertible, Prairie Bronze, Palomino interior, July 13th assembly date, ordered in San Jose area, 3.00:1 rear axle ratio, automatic transmission).

(from page 3 of the 1964 Collection) Here is a look of the D-code, 289 cubic inch, 4-barrel, V8 engine.

(from page 3 of the 1964 Collection) Here is an action shot of Mary and her Prairie Bronze 1964 Mustang convertible leaving Harold's Burger Bar of Centralia, Washington.

(from page 3 of the 1964 Collection) Here is some during restoration photos that Mary sent us. Everything was stripped down and those parts needing replacement was done with original parts.

(from page 3 of the 1964 Collection) This Mustang still has it's original 170ci 6-cylinder engine. It puts out 105 horsepower and still gets 30-35 miles per gallon on the highway.
