The door data tag on this car reads: 65A 2 door hardtop standard bucket seat body style, Q Brittany Blue exterior paint, 2A black bucket seats (showing that the interior of this car has been replaced), 03U assembled on the 3th of August 1968, 74 ordered in the Seattle area, 2 2.79:1 rear axle ratio, and W automatic transmission.

Check out this Sunlit Gold 1968 Mustang hardtop. It's owned by David McDowall from Seattle, Washington. It has it's original 289ci V8 engine and an automatic transmission. David purchased it in Woodinville, Washington. He is the 3rd owner. He's wondering if its could possibly be an Oregon/Washington "Golden Nugget Northwest" dealer special. It doesn't have the DSO of 1111 which is on the other Golden Nugget cars. It does have the same paint and trim codes as the Golden Nugget Special but it was built one month before the earliest batch we have found. It may have been the inspiration for the special?

The data plate for this car is on the back edge of the driver's side door. All the Golden Nugget Specials we have found have 1111 on the door plate after the 74. This one is blank. It does have the color as Y5 which is the same color (Sunlit Gold) with blacked-out hood. The date code of 16B puts it one month ahead of production for the Golden Nugget Specials we have found.

"I was always into Mustangs since I was a little boy. 10 years ago I fulfilled my dream and found a first owner car in Darien, Connecticut. After 3 months of waiting it arrived in October 2003. It is almost original and driven almost every day from April to September. This year in April I was in Las vegas at the 50th anniversary of the Mustang and I had a great time"

Attitude Of The Week for the week starting May 11, 2014. Michael tells us,
"I bought this car from an importer in 2011 and set about restoring it myself. It was originally a Limegold and Parchment vinyl roof car. Its been repainted in Calypso Coral with a black vinyl roof. The Ivy Gold interior has also bee replaced with a new black interior. I've had every nut and bolt out and know the car intimately now. I managed to track down the previous owner in California, who was very surprised to find the car had made it downunder and he was able to fill in some of its history. It recently attended the Mustang 50th Anniversary Celebrations in Geelong Australia, after driving it halfway across the country and back."

Lime Gold 1968 Black vinyl Mustang hardtop with aftermarket bright wheels and a 195hp (4600rpm), 289 cubic inch, 2 barrel V8 engine. This is not the original exterior color, although the ivy gold interior seats are original.
