This was the final year for the original Fox-chassis after being introduced 14 years prior in 1979 (from 1994 to 2004 an updated version of the rear wheel drive Fox-4 or SN-95 chassis was used). Vibrant red was only offered in 1993 with the Cobra. Other Cobra colors was the Teal and Black. Only 5100 Cobras were offered in 1993. Although Cobra options where available previous years (76-78 Mustang II, Cobra II, and the 1978 King Cobra), this was the first year for the SVT specially designed model for the Mustang.

The Special Vehicle Team (SVT) was created in late 1991 to increase the Mustang's performance by introducing a limited number of factory built supercars. The Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) group was formed to design and create the car, while the SVT group did the marketing. This was the car they developed and introduced in record time for 1993.

"I bought it new in 1997 with 30K miles in mint/unmolested condition. Currently the car has a 331ci Blown/Balanced/Blueprinted/Aftercooled engine [more description on engine photo] It has; BBK 1 3/4 long tubes and off-road H pipe with Flowmaster Super 40s. Also has a stainless/electric exhaust cut-outs. 5 speed T5 with Pro 5.O shifter with TKO 600 coming in Jan 2012. DFX clutch and Fidanza aluminum flywheel. Aluminum driveshaft and loop. Motorsport HD Traction-Lok differential with 31 spline axles. 3:73s. Brakes replaced to stock specs except for front cross drilled rotors. Lakewood drag struts/shocks and upper/lower control arms. Welded sub-frame connectors and 6 point cage with swing out arms. Hatch mounted battery. Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump with 12 gal sump tank. Pony rims with Mickey Thompson DRs [ rear ] and Dunlop ZR rated [ front ]. 500rwhp/480rwtq with a very mild dyno tune, longevity a priority. 11.6et/124mph. My intentions from the beginning were to maintain a SLEEPER look and the exterior is virtually stock minus the fuel/oil pressure gauge built in to the cowl. The 11.6et/124mph was a one time run and with more time and a better 60ft time, 10.90's are realistic."

Black 1993 Mustang GT hatchback owned by Rich Nagle from Chalfont, Pennsylvania. Rich tells us,
"I bought it new from Yocum Ford in Lansdale Pennsylvania September 20, 1992. I race and show it and it serves as my daily driver in nice weather. The original bottom end has 207,000 miles on it. Originally equipped with an automatic transmission, I converted it to a 5-speed manual transmission in 2004. The car's best time at the dragstrip is 12.7 seconds at 105 mph. My GT does not have a power adder but has had several modifications. They are all listed on my website www.NASTY93.com."
