(from page 3 of the 1991 Collection) This is a 2.3L 4-cylinder engine. It has two spark plugs for each cylinder. this type of engine was available in the 2.3L Mustang engine from 1991 through 1993. Notice there is no distributor. One plug per cylinder fires during the compression cycle and the other during the exhaust stroke. This simplifies the ignition system and provides a bit of emissions assistance.
