(from page 1 of the 1964 Collection) This is a one owner Vintage Burgundy 1964 Mustang hardtop. Roy Ratliff purchased it new on May 29, 1964 and still owns it today! It was our featured Attitude Of The Week photo for the week starting 2-15-09. Roy tells us more, "It came with a center console and Ralley-Pac. I rebuilt the motor in 2007 installing all new internals and had the carb rebuilt by Pony Carbs. In the beginning it was my hot rod, now it's my cherished ride. I will never be for sale as long as I live."

(from page 1 of the 1964 Collection) Under the hood is this 289 4V V8 engine. It was originally rated at 220 horsepower in the owners manual as Roy points out below in his comments.

(from page 1 of the 1964 Collection) The air cleaner and valve covers are painted gold in color.

(from page 1 of the 1964 Collection) A shot of the right side of the engine. Check out the vintage FoMoCo washer bag on the inner fender. These 1964 engines had generators instead of alternators.

(from page 1 of the 1964 Collection) The interior is black in color. It has a center console and the Rally Pac instrument cluster attached to the top of the steering column.

(from page 1 of the 1964 Collection) The door data tag reads 65A hardtop body style, X Vintage Burgundy exterior paint color, 86 black vinyl trim, 15E assembled on the 15th of May 1964, 74 ordered in the Seattle area, 1 3.00:1 rear axle ratio, and 5 4 speed manual transmission. The VIN number shows that this is a true 1964 because the last 6 digits are below 250000 even though the year is indicated as 5 (1965).

(from page 2 of the 1964 Collection) Vintage Burgundy 1964 Mustang convertible owned by March from Madison, Alabama. March purchased it from his Aunt, who was the original owner. The car only has 74,500 original miles on the clock! It has the 289 4bbl V8 engine and an automatic transmission.

(from page 4 of the 1964 Collection) Vintage Burgundy 1964 Mustang hardtop, left side view with the doors and hood open.

(from page 4 of the 1964 Collection) The engine is the base level 170 cubic inch, 6-cylinder. There is lots of room in this engine compartment.

(from page 4 of the 1964 Collection) It has an automatic transmission. Look at all those knobs under the dash. The first is probably the 4 way flashers. The second is the parking brake release. I don't know what the third one is. Maybe a manual choke?

(from page 4 of the 1964 Collection) Here is a close-up of a floor mounted manual transmission shifter. It is a little pitted. Anyone care to comment what the second position from the bottom is - with the circle?

(from page 4 of the 1964 Collection) Trunk is nice and clean. Everything is wrapped in vintage plaid.

(from page 15 of the 1964 Collection) Vintage Burgundy 1964 Mustang hardtop at the 2010 Mustang Club of America Grand Nationals car show held in Bellevue, Washington. Those are the standard, base level wheel covers. There was an upgrade which added spinners and larger sized versions of these wheels.

(from page 15 of the 1964 Collection) Here is the 1964, 289ci V8 engine with a generator instead of an alternator which was on all 1965+ Mustangs. There was a 2-barrel and 4-barrel version of this engine.

(from page 2 of the 1965 Collection) Vintage Burgundy 1965 Mustang convertible with added GT options. This was our featured Attitude Of The Week picture for 7-29-07. It has a 289ci V8 engine, power steering, power top, floor-shift automatic transmission with console, disc brakes, pony interior, and new styled steel wheels.
