Indian Fire Red 1969 Mustang Mach 1 fastback, front end view. Hood pins where introduced on the 1965 Mustang Shelby where the hood latch mechanism was deleted NASCAR-style pins were installed to lock it down. By 1968 the pins were more ornamental and for additional safety as the hood latch mechanism was retained. In 1969 the Mustang GT and Mustang Mach 1 came standard with these pins (which could be deleted).
