This is a Royal Maroon 1968 Mustang Sprint with a 195 hp (at 4600 rpm), 289 cubic inch, 2 barrel, V8. The Sprint options packages started midway through the 1966 model year when Ford introduced the Millionth Mustang Sale featuring the limited-edition "Sprint" package which had a lot more chrome and a different engine due to engine availability problems in 1966. The Sprint option remained in later years with just the additional chrome and paint options which gave the car a GT look without the price. The 1968 Mustang Sprint option consisted of GT stripes, pop-open gas cap and the full wheel covers of six cylinder Mustangs. V-8s got in addition, the styled steel wheels with Wide Oval Tires and the GT fog lamps.

Candy Apple Red 1968 Mustang GT High Country Special with a litte bit of front end damage. 250 of these cars were built by the San Jose plant for the Colorado area in 1968 and followed the tradition of GT upgrades and HCS side emblem found on the 1966 and 67 High Country Specials. The 1968 California Special was inspired by the three year successful run of High Country Specials. These HCS models featured a carburetor jetted for high altitude driving, side scoops, a factory fiberglass trunk lid with molded in spoiler, Shelby style taillights, namesake decals, horse delete grille, high-intensity fog/driving lights, hood pins and a stripe decal down each side of the vehicle.

Vermillion Red 1968 Mustang hardtop owned by Julie Austad from Everett, Washington. This was our featured Attitude Of The Week photo for the week starting December 27, 2009. Julie also has a 2006 Mustang. Julie shares, "I bought the car 8/9/03 as a 'Totally Restored Beauty'. It wasn't. It had been painted, the engine had been worked on, and the interior redone. I have done the rest. It now has FlowMaster dual exhaust, was stock with single exhaust. It has been converted from a 2bbl to a 4bbl system with an Edelbrock 1406 carburetor and a Ford 289 4bbl cast iron manifold. In my garage, I have a 351 Windsor on an engine stand that I have torn down and am waiting for the money to be saved for the 408 stroker parts I want. Then I will rebuild it myself. Yes, I am a girl who doesn't mind getting dirty. I have a full shop in my garage including engine hoist and tools. Donations are always welcome for this project."

Julie sends us additional shots of her Vermillion Red 1968 Mustang hardtop. Julie tells us more, "I bought this Mustang in August of 2003. Since then, I have started the process of converting it into a Shelby Coupe Tribute to the Green Hornet (only it will be red and have a 408 Stroker engine). I haven't decided whether to go with the original C-4 transmission or whether to use an FMX in it yet. The interior is mostly done, including Carroll Shelby's signature on my dash. I was able to get that prior to his death. It means the world to me."

This is a Flower Power Red 1968 Rainbow Of Colors Mustang convertible. It is owned by Don Croft. This was our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting January 30, 2011. The Rainbow Of Colors promotion ran on the west coast on 1968 and 1969 Mustangs. They featured special paint offerings in all colors of the rainbow. This one was sold new at Highland Park Motors Inc. in Los Angeles, California. Don tells us, "I bought it back in 2004, and was told by the previous owner it was 'Grabber Orange'. I knew at the time this wasn't correct as Grabber Orange was a '69 color, and bit lighter than the shade of my Mustang. I had wondered since about the correct color, until last year when I stumbled onto your website, which encouraged me to run the Marty Report..." Besides the special order paint, the Marty Report listed the following options: 289-2V Engine, Parchment Power Top w/ Glass Backlite, C-4 Cruise-O-Matic Transmission,
F70X14 Wide Oval Tires, White Sidewall Nylon Tires, Air Conditioner - Selectaire, AM/8-Track Stereo Radio, and Tinted Glass
