(7 photos of a 1969 Grabber Orange Mustang Shelby GT-350 Convertible) Grabber Orange 1969 Mustang Shelby GT350 convertible owned by Jim Srp from Boerne, Texas. This was our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting April 3, 2011. Jim adds, "Purchased two years ago. It is an original Colorado car and owned by the same family since 1980. Ford produced only four Grabber Orange convertibles and this is one of two four speeds. All original parts, drivetrain and motor and just completed a frame off restoration."
(9 photos of a 1969 Grabber Orange Mustang Shelby GT-500 Convertible) Grabber Orange 1969 Mustang Shelby GT500 convertible with Shelby modified front fascia, Shelby 5 vented hood, hood pins, side scoop, Lucus fog lamps, Shelby wheels, color key sport mirrors, white GT500 side stripes, Shelby rear wing, and a Cobra Jet 428 cubic inch V8 engine. The hood of this car is painted correctly for a 1969 Shelby Mustang. In 1970, all hoods had black stripes independent of the side stripe color. All 1970 Mustang Shelbys where 1969 carry over models when Shelby decided to stop modifying Mustangs in 1969.

This was the first Mustang production year of the Grabber Orange color, the Shelby Mustangs used this color for the first time a year earlier. Unlike most 1970 Mach I's, the hood air scoop is functional due to the Super Cobra Jet engine underneath.

The 1969/70 Shelby was the first Mustang to use Grabber Orange paint. This Shelby was also our featured Attitude Of The Week for December 23rd, 2007.

Paul, the owner, shares, "I ordered it in December of 69 and picked it up May 1st of 70 for my last month of senior high. I saved my paper route money for 8 years and payed $2700 cash. It listed for $3200. That 1 picture is the only picture I have of when it was new. I have drag raced it, ran it at Bonneville twice and road raced it which is it's current form. It's a streetable road race car so it's not full road race." This Mustang was optioned with the "Grabber Special Value Package" which included; the special "C" stripe which is similar to the 1969 Boss side stripe but without the lettering, the F-code 302ci 2bbl engine, body colored side mirrors, blacked out rear taillight panel, and 14-inch wheels with dog dish plain hub caps.

They were all Grabber Orange Mach-1 Mustangs. Only 96 units were produced. There is a tornado Twister graphic on the rear fenders.

This car has been repainted, Grabber Orange was not a color offered in 1973. The black vinyl roof really matches the black striped hood, black front air dam, and black rear spoiler.

But it did make an appearance on the Mustang Back in 1970 along with other bright Grabber colors (blue and green). Click here to see some 1970 Mustangs in Grabber Orange. The color is similar to the yellow-orange of many school buses.
