This was the first year Larry Shinoda set up a company to modify the Mustang GT and Cobra into the Boss and Cobra 429 Boss. Larry Shinoda was the designer of the original Mustang Boss in 1969. The engine is a 302 high output V8 with MAC 1 and 5/8 inch chrome headers, underdrive pulleys, BBK 70mm throttle body, K&N filter, CDC/Dynomax side exhaust. Other modifications are CDC side scoops, 17 inch factory chromed wheels, 245/45ZR17 Ultra Z tires, Accel ignition, Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm wires, door jams and dash by MustangWorld, Steeda lower springs allowing for a 1.5 inch drop, JCWhitney rear window louvers, GTS blackouts, and CDC billet grille and front spoiler.|

This is our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting August 31, 2014. Walt tells us more, "This was my son's car but he bought an 04 Mach 1 and parked the 94 GT. I got a deal from him and have been modding it ever since. He used to deliver pizza and Mexican food in it but it was pretty pristine when I got it. I have turned it into a Roush 360 Series Tribute car. I have installed the Roush front splitters and wing. I have the rear and side exit exhaust to go. It has a full Eibach Pro Kit suspension, MM subframes & adjustable LCAs, Magnapacks & BBK off road midpipe, staggered 17" DD Bullitts with 315/275 Sumitomos, Koni Sport Yellows adjustable rear shocks Steeda TriAx, Steeda CC plates, Bullitt/ Mach 1 13" brakes, Baer drilled & slotted rotors, new black reflector headlights Cobra style, and 3:55 Ford Racing Gears. Love this car and get so many kudos and even trophies at shows! A Coyote Swap in the future but now just a 95 Cobra intake and E303 cam, 65mm cobra throttle body, BBK CAI, and AFR 165 heads in the near future.."

I found out later this is a rare, 1 of 36 made, Crystal White convertibles with Bright Red Leather interior. It is all stock except for Chrome Cobra R rims and changed the white top to black when needed to be replaced."

So, what is different on a Cobra R? How about the huge 5.8L (351 cubic inch) V8 under the hood! This engine is so big that the standard hood did not work. A special taller fiberglass hood was created. This baby was built for racing. It has a factory 20-gallon fuel cell, a engine oil cooler, and a power steering cooler. All Cobra R Mustangs were painted Crystal White with tan colored interiors.

The Stage 1 offered mainly appearance upgrades but this one received additional upgrades: chip upgrade, performance gauges inside, bored engine, ring and crank upgrades, billet rod upgrades, and performance headers and valve job.
