This photo shows Reiny van Uden's Special Order Yellow 1968 Mustang GT fastback packed up and ready to be sent to him. The original 1968 special order factory code belongs to a group of 133 specially ordered Mustangs built in the San Jose area and shipped to Los Angeles for the Rainbow of Colors sales promotion.

Here is an earlier photo of Reiny van Uden's 1968 Rainbow of Colors promotional Mustang GT in possibly a different shade of special order yellow and aftermarket wheels. The car was repainted in 2005. The door data tag reads 63A, 2A, 07B scheduled for assembly on February 7th, 1968, 710782 ordered in the Los Angeles area under special order number 0708, 7 3.25:1 axle ratio, W automatic transmission. It was ordered by McCoy & Mills Ford of Fullerton California.

This is a special order yellow, 1968, Mustang GT is one of the Rainbow of Colors promotional Mustangs from California. It is owned by Reiny van Uden from Volkel, The Netherlands, and is our Attitude Of The Week for the week of July 15th, 2012. The yellow of the Rainbow of Colors promotion went by many names in advertisements including Dandelion Yellow, Yummy Yellow and Razzle-Dazzel Yellow. Many of the promotional cars were Sprint optioned hardtops. This is more rare since it is a GT fastback. See the previous photos in this set to see how it looked before Reiny changed out the wheels and had the C-stripe put back on.

Corporate Yellow 1968 Mustang Gold Nugget Special hardtop with a 289 cubic inch, 4 barrel V8 engine. This was one of the 525
Gold Nugget Special cars ordered in the Seattle and Oregon areas. Most of the cars came in Sunlit Gold (color code Y) which some call Anniversary Gold (and think its a darker gold but we have no idea other than the
ad from 1968 which says its Sunlit Gold), although all the standard and special 1968 colors were available. As part of the Gold Nugget Special package came a black vinyl roof, blacked out hood stripes (delete when restored) with louvers, and a golden dash plate with the owners name.

Invoice showing the standard features of the Gold Nugget Special. The limited edition special started with a Mustang Hardtop for $2601.78 then added a custom paint. In this case the customer picked Corporate Yellow, but the standard was Sunlit Gold (again, some think it was Anniversary Gold and a bit darker). Next came a 4 speed manual transmission, power steering, AM radio, center console, deluxe seat belts, black vinyl roof, performance tires, wheel covers, louvered hood, and front fascia integrated turn signals. All these options increased the base Mustang hardtop price by $775.51. For this car the dealer added an engine dress up kit, 5 spoke SCCA styled wheels, bright wheel lip moldings, and rocker panel moldings for an additional $121.67.
